to those who were looking for deemsters...it was deff there cuz i know a bunch of kids who get it but about vibe i had a great fucking time, i was camped less then 25 ft from nitrous alley and less then 100 yrds from where the body was found and to be honest i never was really worried or scared of anything, from sunset to sun up i walked through nitrous alley more times then i can count and only felt a lil sketched out when the mafia would start yelling at each other i dont have a problem with nmitrous itself but what the mafia brings with that makes it a problem, the only time i was a lil worried was when 2 guys who each happen to be sucking down ballons got into a fight less then 5 ft from me and before you knew it there was 15 more people going at to say the least i got outta there pretty quick but that was the only real time i felt uneasy about the dead body i heard that the nitrous mafia killed him cuz he was selling n2o also and they took his tank and smashed all his car windows with hit and burned his face but according to news reports he died of natural causes but who honestly knows i think if it was a murder we wouldnt know anyway because they dont want bad vibes (no pun intended) going around about the festival either way i pray that vibes with stay at seaside cuz im 100% planning on going next year
and also one thing that i had noticed was there was a good amount of people there for everything but the music i saw people sitting on the board walk farthest from sober blaring rap out of there boom box, i was there for the jam bands not some hoodlum talking about his "hard" life
jesus i didnt think nitrous oxide, of all things (its not even fucking illegal!!) would attract organized crime
jesus, i hope the festival i'm going to this weekend is gonna be cool. i think it's pretty small so it should be
man that's some bullshit about the n2o. if someone came into my festival and put a damper on my experience i would have no problem expelling them. although i guess it would depend on how much muscle the group i was with was packing. :boxing_smiley: lol. even then you could still bribe the police into actually doing their jobs and keeping the nitrous out of the freaking festival. 'look man, we have a serious problem'
I talked to a guy that got robbed at gunpoint at a dead show for a tank of nitrous. On the bright side, the guy couldn't have gotten far...hahah
yeah man it was pretty bad if you were camped in west. it just really sent a lot of bad vibes throughout the fest. however, the music and stage area were phenomenal. they had the double stages and it looked really great. btw desos, i remember reading in your trip report about how you were part of and witnessed "pure magic" when you were explaining some band (moe.?) and how there was just incredible energy being formed. well, i saw the same thing happened. dark star played thursday nite despite the rain.... pretty large crowd out for rainy night, however, everyone was jammin out and were all on a lot of hallucinagens lol. when dark star began to play sunshine daydream...omg it was magical. i was rolling so hard at this point, and it was honestly the best show at vibes i thought(that i saw at least). after sunshine daydream they stopped cause it was really pouring out. they went backstage and the crowd just BLEW UP! everyone was cheering and screaming for like at least what felt like 3-4 minutes. DARK STAR ORCHESTRA comes back on stage and starts playing THE MIGHTY QUINN!!!!! i cant explain how amazing it was.....:cheers2:
hell yea lol. that entire night was magical for me. there was no aspect that was not magical. yea it was moe that did the encore kind of like you described. its just great when the whole crowd is on the same wavelength, and the band rides the energy and pulls everything through into transcendence. it was funny when i went to see moe recently they opened with the same song they closed with when i saw them that day. chuck just looked down at me and smiled as if to say 'yea, come on through' small venues ftw! i was amazed, at how perfectly all the events lined up.
I was there. My tent was about 50 yards from the body. I saw the body. This is total BS. He was not beaten. He was not murdered. His death was medically related. He either OD'd, had a heat stroke, or had a pre-existing medical condition. It had NOTHING to do w/ the Philly n20 mafia. He died in a sitting position, and the body was later dumped in the spot it was found. The guy had been dead for 1-2 days, rigamortis had already set it. All of this info is readily available via legit news sources. Do not believe the BS you read within people's comments under the story. I was there when the body was discovered, and was still there near the body 5 hours late. Trust me. Now back to the subject at hand, here's my GOTV drug run down... Friday: Ganja food breakfast > Alcohol all day & night > Smoke all day & night > Acid (1/2 hit) > X ( 1 pressy) > 5 or 6 finger dips of molly > X (1 pressy) > K (holed)> N20 Saturday: Ganja food breakfast > Alcohol all day / night > Smoke all day & night > Blo (1 bump) > Acid >about 6 or 7 finger dips of molly > Blo (1 bump) > K (1 bump) > N20 > saw the dead body > went to bed > woke up just outside 'crime scene' > left quickly All in all I had a blast. *The Philly n20 mafia didn't beat anyone down that didn't deserve it. This is almost always the case. They're relatively good guys. Just don't fuck with them.
what constitutes fucking with them? bringing your own personal n20? would they get pissed at that like selling your own tank? how about simply not doing nitrous if they offered to sell you some? sounds pretty bad to me, but yea, i'd do my best to not fuck with them. and why was the body sit around for a full day or two? and why was it dumped in a different location than where he died? i'm not trying to prove it either way, i wasn't there. i'm just curious
thats the stupidest thing ive ever heard, who gives them the right to hurt anyone or make legitimate festival goers who pay money feel unsafe to be there as opposed to those going to make money and generally dont give a shit about anyone. Fuck them, and you for tolerating that stuff.
I was camped all the way out by the fence in west camp next to the factory (close 2 where the body was found). FUCK THE NITROUS MAFIA. Besides that it was amazing and life changing experience. First night Was half a hit of sazzafraz snorted, then while walking by the pt barnum statue someone dosed me up with liquid (O MY FUCKING GOOOOOOD WOOOOHOOO) DSO was absolutely AMAZING. The rain made me dance even harder. I was right up against the metal fence dancing in a mud pit that had formed between the wires that connected the soundboard to the stage. AMAZING!. St. stephen--> shakedown was mindblowing. DBB was great i think K and molly was that night, The third day SOMEONE picked up a sheet of US BLUES (SOMEONE got uncle sams feet!!!) and that was the best paper SOMEONE encountered or ever have encountered (SOMEONE has eaten 100-125 hits of cid) The comic book GD prints going around are absolutellllllyyyy amazing. Sunday was just ket for CSN. The monday night after vibes was shroom chocolate (half an eigth)... amazing, the night after that was a half eigth again and a hit of blotter.... amazing. And now im chillen with a little weed because im a weeee bit fried. The festival had mad sketch, But at the time i felt like i was navigating it all safely, spoke to some of the mafia about how their operation is run (im a curious person). We caught people trying to steal stuff out of our tents :-/. Nothing was stolen though but yeah FUCK the sketch at vibes security is an absolute joke that was payed off, the SOC has been swiss cheese status of straining out sketch for the past few years at vibes yet Terrapin keeps on re-hiring them, I think they r making money off of the nitrous at the highest levels of this festival because of the shear ammount of looking the other way. Happy vibes folks the music was amazing I think the vibrations from the drum set for ratdog made people around me cum! Happy vibes Will see yall next year. P.S. Welcome to the BUDDhaHood
i was there too boss. thats only what i heard but i believe you 100%. and yea, nos mafia definetly beat people down, mostly those selling nitrous on there own. maybe you were just sleeping.... they are "good guys"???? what? i guess charging 5 bucks a ballon, stealing other peoples drinks and chairs, and threatening anyone who gets in there way constitutes good people lol. cmon now.
Not really. I wouldn't go sell it right next to them, but I wouldn't do that to anyone. If you don't go looking for trouble w/ them, I wouldn't expect to be hassled for slingin a few tanks. There not bad guys really. I've chilled with them a few different times (always late night at festivals). They certainly not giving anyone shit for not buying balloons. They don't start shit w/ anyone. More often it's the other way around. Self righteous 'family' who like to play the ‘my drug is better than your drug’ game. The only legit argument against n20 is the fact that all the custie kids would be spending that money at vendors (booths & walking), or on more 'natural' drugs. I won't go in to the natural debate; I'll just say it's a bunch of crap, IMO. Thing is, n20 has been sold on lot for over 20 years. I started going to shows and festivals in 1990, and n20 has always been there. The trash gets picked up by those who are paid to pick it up, nobody dies, and everyone lives to see another high. Personally, I prefer there to be n20 available. I'll hit it up a couple times a day. Maybe $40 worth of $5 fatties, or whatever price I can work them down to, over the whole weekend. I also buy shit from all manner of vendors. I have friends that get there tanks filled in Philly (prob. from the n20 mafia), on occasion we'll throw in $20 each and suck down a 10lb'er in a van, on lot. Good times. The body was left in a car from late Friday or early Sat until Sunday morning when whatever A-hole decided to roll out. As for why, we would have to speculate, which is the very thing I was rallying against last post. None the less, I figure it went something like this: He passed out in somebody else's car, likely the one he rode to the show in. They're parked a long way from the stage, probably in the direct sunlight, like the rest of us. With the windows up, the temp would have reached 120-130 inside the car. It was hot and sunny most of Friday & Saturday. The driver rolls out to the show / shakedown / vendors / closer campgrounds. Meanwhile Jay (James) passes out in that green Saturn. Was he obliterated drunk? Was he drunk and on OC's? Did he do too much smack? One of those things happened and he ended up passing out / nodding off / going to bed in the passenger seat. Or he could of just had sleep apnea, we’ll have to wait and see. Either way, Sunday morning (1-2 days later) the driver returns to the car and freaks the fuck out. He's both wasted and paranoid, in possession of a shit ton of drugs and paranoid, or just a total pussy who didn't want to deal w/ the cops. Either way, he drives the body to my damned campground and dumps it two rows over. He pulls a tarp over the body and rolls out. I don't blame your curiosity. We'll know in about a month when we have both the autopsy and toxicology reports back. 99.9% chance the cops aren't covering up a murder for a bunch of hippies though. Here's an example: at GOTV some belligerent old muscle bound dude was going around yanking balloons out of people's hands and sucking them down. Then he went to the tank and grabbed one. He got his ass kicked, and he deserved it. He came back an hour later, still all belligerent, but this time w/ some kind of rod or pipe that he was threatening everyone with. He got his ass kicked again, and he deserved it. I wouldn't say that the people who make money off drugs at a festival don't give a shit about anyone. They have families, and are family, just like everyone else. Those who work the festivals trying to make a buck or two have my support, so long as their drugs are real. I don't think there's any reason for you to not feel safe because of the n20 mafia. In fact, nobody who isn't going after them has any reason to not feel safe. I suspect the lack of safety you feel is largely based on false rumors, like the ones being discussed here. I will grant you that it's a little dirtier scene w/ them around (not talking about trash), but the same can be said for Disco Biscuit fans. Philly is Philly, what are ya gonna do? I repeat n20 has been around 20+ years. Welcome to our scene.
I slept...like 8am - 10'ish all 3 days. Balloons have been going for $5 since 1990. I don't think the actual n20 mafia is stealing chairs. Perhaps you think every dirty, scumbag, gutter punk is Philly n20 mafia, but they're not. There are around 30 of them at these shows, and they don't go around stealing your $5 camping chair. Now if by 'getting in there way', you mean going up to them and yelling at them to stop & generally starting shit w/ them...well in my opinion they are the ones being threatened in that case. If nobody starts shit w/ them, then nothing bad goes down. People bring it on themselves w/ their self righteous my drug is better than your drug bullshit.
I agree completely, nothing wrong with drugs at festivals and in the case of nitrous if people want to pay ridiculous prices then they completely have the right to. and to people that complain about the litter it creates i just got back from doing an 8 day festival cleanup and more litter means more work (and therefore more money and time on site) and nos canisters are a hell of alot nicer that condoms and toilet roll, and im sure many people created alot of none nitrous related litter too? i see what people mean about vibes being changed by the presence of a certain group of people, but blaming graffiti you have seen automatically on 'NOS heads' and assuming that the presence of this one drug has resulted in a significant athmospherical and moral decline is talkin out of your arse. Theres lots of variation in nitrous users, theyre not all thugs who piss on your tent and try to nick your wallet. salmon4me said he himself partook on an irregular basis and ive never had any inclining to question his festival manners or manners of any kind based on his posts.
yeah i know man, your right. i mean personnally i dont mind the scene at all , but when you have like a family with kids sitting around with a hissing tank 12 feet away, it attracts scum. your right, those guys are there to make money, but its there customers that just like hang around the area and do the dumbest shit. whatevr, i cant wait till next fest for an icecoldfattie::iggy:
hey kickz and deadhead, what do you guys know about the US blues blotters? my friends and i got 20 hits of it (for $150). i just measured my hits (they were marked with a pen) and they are 3/16ths of an inch by 3/16ths. shouldn't they be 1/4 by 1/4? how big were your guys' hits, or were they not marked? do you know what the dose per hit is supposed to be? the dude i got em from said 150 mics but i was doubtful. what's the print look like? pic? i took 1.5 "hits" the night i got em at a festival. it was a good time, but pretty mellow. i knew something would be sketchy about it...at least it was actually acid though. also, what about the comic book GD prints? what's GD stand for? i think i heard someone at the fest talking about comic book blotter
yeah man i got a couple ten strips of comic book. gd is grateful dead. its reallly colorful print, i cant make out anything on them just like different colors, green, red, blue, black.. but yeah i didnt get any of the us blues. but a bunch of my buddies did and they said it was the best acid they had ever eaten.
