what tricks?

 

Bans on this site are IP based. Bug Man has a dynamic IP. That makes it impossible. I'm also not inflexible, and I believe people deserve second chances. If the reasons for banning someone no longer exist, why keep them banned? If Bug Man has agreed to stick to the rules, then I don't see a problem with him coming back. Otherwise, maybe you'd like to sit at your computer for several hours each day doing nothing but cleaning up flame and troll posts when you'd much rather be enjoying the forum....

 

I've also got a vbulletin licence.

You can't make a ban permanent if someone is on a dynamic IP and using multiple email accounts. You can restrict their access to certain forums on that account though.

 

Well, active moderation for a start... maybe a site owner that actully gives a fuck about the site.... where is skip? nowhere to be seen... he just sits back and collects the money that people donate via pay pal, while letting people like bugman run riot...

I donated money to this site because I thought it was a good place.... I'm not so sure anymore.

 

I can understand you trying to be nice and give him another chance, but he never left in the first place.

What i see is if an individual harrasses the site enough he can get what he wants and does not have to worry about the rules anymore.

 

Skip's just moved to Spain. He doesn't have access to the internet, other than at a Cafe. He'll probably not be around much for the next few weeks....

 

I love this place... It isn't perfect but then niether are we.


Maybe power should be dispersed to more people, so the forums can be more actively kept litter free?

 

The HF database is acting up a little bit, needs to be kicked...an account refresh routine will run again in about 12 hours, try again after that...if that does not work Peace you can try to re-ban his account, wait 13 hours, then unabn it again, wait 12 hours.

 

It's inconvenient for me to keep having to ban him and clear up his posts, and it's inconvenient for him to keep haing to re-register a new account, when really he'd just like to participate in the forums (mainly outside the UK) We've come to an agreement, and he'll stick to the rules. Otherwise we'll all lose out, including him. The agreement seems fair, and I trust he'll stick to it, as will I. I really think we should just let the issue lie now....

 

Bug_man is alright .. no he is not ....... yes he is .... no yes no yes ... it just depends what kinda mood he is in. Probably tell me to go F**k myself now hahaha

I've been running forums for years... back since 1998 in fact... I already have knowledge of how vB works (both from a moderation point of view, but also an admin one... I've also written scripts for vB, even released one called vBstory - it's on vbulletin.org), and if I was not so close to this issue, I would volinteer for moderation duties... but seeing as I am so close to this issure, I don't think anyone would trust me...

Out of interest, does anyone know just how many super moderators or moderators with banning powers are on this site?

Plus, how many other moderators are there that don't have banning powers?
