I don't mean how they look but the sensations you get as you pass from one surface to another. Feet are very tactile and sensual. I love the sensations that the rest of my body gets from barefooting. Anyone else?
Wow, that's the second barefooter, I've seen on here from Milton Keynes. I very nearly moved there myself. It all fell through at the last minute. No barefooters from Cambridge though, where I am now. :-( Still, I'll be off out to Kuwait in just over 3 weeks. Don't expect to meet too many barefooters straight away as it'll be too hot at first, but, come November...
You would be very surprised. I'm not sure why some people bother to be honest. They seem to get no sensuality from it at all.
Do you know a lot of people who do it then? I don't know many full time barefooters. I met a few for an organised SBL UK meetup recently. Apart from that my only contact with barefooters is through online media such as this forum. If I met up with any I wouldn't be fussy about their motivations, just pleased to know some at all.
I absolutely love barefooting! I could go the rest of my life without wearing shoes.. but unfortunately there are times I must wear them so I always have my chucks on I love the way everything feels..
That's good to know. I don't remember seeing any others when I was there - apart from my ex who still lives there, but probably doesn't go barefoot now as she only got into it because of me and probably doesn't bother now. I remember her telling me once that there was gossip around her village about "some strange man walking around without shoes on, but it was ok because he had [her] children with him."
Just walked back 2 miles from my mechanic. My tires have picked up more nails than I ever have! Anyway, barefoot over rough, unshaded stony pavement in 90-degree heat...was GREAT! Better barefoot in "da mean streets" than shod in the air-conditioned gym!
I am not a full time barefooter but I do enjoy the different textures and tempertures when I am barefoot.
this is one of the reasons that i love to walk barefoot, to feel the different textures under my soles.
it definitely feels good to feel the different surfaces underfoot. For some reason, i like the feel of parking lots. they are rough, but not bumpy. feels like a massage.
I had a great fun walking home today from the train station after going to london for the football this afternoon. It was absolutely pissing it down. I got completely soaked but my feet were loving the puddles, and naturally my feet were cleaner than they'd ever been after a day in london and on the underground, and of course they were the first things to dry themselves once I'd got in and I don't have any soaking wet shoes to dry out (just a pair of jeans, a football shirt, a rugby shirt and a hat).
i used to take off my shoes at the playground and try to climb up the slide when i was little. i have to say the feeling of that kind of plastic against my feet felt awesome. lol i also like the feeling of grass, and cold linoleum.
I've never really been able to explain it, but a huge reason I go barefoot is because of the feelings and sensations of my feet connecting with the things I'm walking on and experiencing. It seems so illogical to me to break up your connection to the world by sticking rubber between you and the ground.
I like the feel of different textures - country parks are good as you get a variety of different surfaces. I like to walk on rough footpaths then go onto grass for a lovely soft feeling, and mud is great too. In the city it's good to go from hot pavements into shops that are cool or carpeted. There's such a variety which you just don't get when wearing shoes!
i agree. i wish that barefooting was more widely accepted and not something that gets you looked down upon. i really dont see why. we didnt always have shoes and im sure that the only reason we have them is so we dont get diseases/infections from little cuts we might get on our feet when we step on rocks or whatever. but if we want to risk that then what is the problem here?
I like how the ground feels on my bare feet, and I do get sensations on my feet. However, sometimes those sensations don't feel like very much.
