We damn near support their whole existence, yet they pay no attention to what we say, let them see what it's really like to be truely independent of us.. We don't need a loose cannon haning around our necks anymore.. If they get themselves involved in another war, who do ya think will have to bail them out again ?? Peace
well i think you may be mixing metaphors, but i could just be unfamiliar with the phrase. but thats beside the point. if you truly feel this way, i assume you must be in favor of completely revamping the american system, as well...? seeing as we haven't been in a defensive war in decades (the wars on terror or drugs don't count, they're both farces to distract the population from the country's complete ineptitude in combating either thing by making it look like they're trying) israel may be acting rather like a loose cannon, but we are probably just as, if not more, guilty of this as they are.
Isolationism would be better than what we have now, let the rest of the world fend for themselves, it might put america back to work.. Peace
This. Bring 'em home and mind our own fucking business. We can have diplomacy without MOUs and bilateral defense agreements. If other countries are starving, let the Peace Corps teach 'em how to grow carrots. This not our problem.
How are they gonna teach them to grow carrots when they live in a fucking desert and won't move ?? Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach him how to fish and you feed him to life for a lifetime.. However he needs a lake first !!! Peace
oddly enough the Israelis have much to teach on this subject. living in the desert is no excuse for not being able to be self sustaining. http://www.google.com/search?q=isra...s=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a the reality is there are hungry and starving people in the world because of diplomatic policies set in place that cause it , not because of where they live.people just didnt move to arid regions this century. people have been surviving in the deserts for a millennium..
http://www.mfa.gov.il/MFA/Facts+Abo...+Israel-+Israel-s+Agriculture+in+the+21st.htm Growing Crops in the Desert Since 1948, the sparsely populated desert area between Be'er Sheva and Eilat (the Arava and the Negev) has played an important role in agricultural production. More than 40 percent of the country's vegetables and field crops are grown there, and 90 percent of the melons exported come from the Arava. Today, because the supply of farmland in the country's densely populated central region is shrinking (only 17 percent of the country's total land area is arable and a growing share is used for housing) the importance of the Negev and the Arava for farming is increasing. In the process, the pattern of farming in the desert is also undergoing change, and new varieties of crops suited to the region's conditions are being developed and introduced, along with animal husbandry, which was hitherto confined to more northern areas. The common advantages of the two regions are their long hours of sunshine and relatively high temperatures, the fact that land is relatively cheap and adequate water (saline or recycled effluent) is available. This makes it possible to grow for export to Europe during the winter months - October through March - using less energy, when prices are highest.
I guess not.. Im just tired of supporting the whole damn world, and then having them turn around and spit in our face for it.. Peace
So we need the Army Corps of Engineers to build them a lake? They can't even build a dike that works. The US is not the world's policeman, nor the world's civil engineer, nor the world's grocery store, nor the world's mediator. Our role as these has done nothing but foster hatred among our detractors, be they many, and foster a sense of entitlement among those countries to which we are the major benefactor. It's not about isolationism but if that is a byproduct, so be it.
If you were (above) I understand somewhat what you are saying...but this issue is far too devisive for Random thoughts.
Anyway, how are we gonna have commie healthcare when we're paying to protect countries who have demonstrated that they can protect themselves? All we're doing is stopping Israel from destroying Iran, South Korea from kicking the shit out of North Korea and a few other similar examples. I don't see how this is our problem.
