Does anyone else here listen to them? Their name sounds like a death metal band, but they're actually shoegaze (a noisy and dreamy style). They've become my favorite band, and their 1991 album Loveless is the greatest piece of music I've ever heard. Just want to see how many people are familiar with them... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loveless_(album)
They are seriously my favo band at the moment. They have one song called "no more sorry" that creeps the hell out of me in a good way.
I always get My Bloody Valentine and Bullet for my Valentine mixed up, so I always lumped them in together. The latter, sucks, let me youtube the former.. Well I was pleasantly surprised =) To anyone who likes them, I recommend Peter, Bjorn & John My Bloody Valentine reminds me of a mix of them and Sonic Youth but more pop-like and not as interesting =P
I broke my post virginity to post in this thread Honestly, Loveless is bar-none my FAVOURITE album of all time. In the summer I used to sit in my room at night with the lights off, burning incense while listening to it. I love it because no matter how many times I listen to it, I hear new things. Sometimes, if you turn it loud enough, you imagine noises within the extremely dense mix. It's so sweet!
Like The Stone Roses and some Sonic Youth, for me this is one of those 'I don't get why everyone likes them' bands. I've listened to Loveless and it's supposed to be this amazing album but I just couldn't get into it... to me, it sounded like regular indie girl music with a lot of reverb. I don't think they're horrible, just not very interesting... to me, at least.
:iagree: I can listen to some songs on Isn't Anything at anytime, pretty much all of them actually. thats a really great album. Loveless never truely grew on me
My Bloody Valentine is the shit, if you don't like noise, you probably won't like it, especially Loveless. It's just very well structured and atmposhered noise.
Also, everyone should check out MBV earlier work before Isn't Anything, it can be quite a different sound and they put out several EP's before then. more of a jangely indie pop sound on Strawberry Wine EP along with Ecstasy ep, for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vE2JM31wnm0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlwMx9DFLWo Then we can go way back to The New Record by My Bloody Valentine ep and Sunny Sundae Smile, ect with their original singer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4FA2PpzJgg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Fjou5IECLE Also I can't find any songs from Geek! or This Is Your Bloody Valentine, the 1st 2 ep's, but if you can find a place to listen songs from them, they're extremely different, you wouldn't even guess it was the same band. I've seen it described as gothic post punk, which may be kind of true I guess.
