i have read of two manipulations that are being commonly used with this.

rich person goes and buys a 500 dollar piece of shit and trades it in on a bmw or lexus. 4000 off the list price.

person buys 500 dollar car, goes buys cheap ass cobalt or something. turns around sells cobalt for 2 grand under what they pay for it,walks away with 2 grand..

i dont think thats why they stopped the program though.. nor do i think its because it was running out of money. like i said they havent even spent a 1/10 of the funds allocated.

more to the story than meets the eye..

strange i am reading something completely different this morning than the original press release last night..(what i was basing my speculation on)

here is last nights press release..
now this morning they are saying 800 plus million has been spent or is pending....

    http://www.usatoday.com/money/autos/2009-07-30-cash-for-clunkers-program-suspended_N.htm

so maybe they are telling the whole story.. who knows..

i do know that from what i gather dealers began offering the rebates before the plan actually went in effect. like as soon as it was announced. so that would account for the back log..

supposedly it has to be registered to the person for x amount of time before they can get the money

but I don't see dealers looking too close at details, if it means a sale.

We need government to provide basic safeties as police and fire protection

After that they should step back and let nature run things

I think most dealers would be looking pretty close..I am sure they have to fill out many forms and provide proof, to get their money back from the government..they would lose money without the proper verification and they are not about to do that.

It would be fantastic if they just gave you the cash straight up, but dude, there is no way I could've afforded car payments on another one. Luckily my car is new enough that it's not an ozone eating machine. Haha.

its back on again, even though congress hasnt approved funding yet.. i guess they have been ordered to though..

The "Cash for Clunkers" program is continuing despite running out of money, the White House said, while Congress raced Friday to pour an additional $2 billion into the popular program

Wonderful, more tax dollars down the drain, do you think a car dealer even checks to see if whoever buys that car can even pay for it ?? Hell no.. Obama will come up with another program to bail out delinquent car loans too..

    Peace

    check this,

at $4,500.00 govt rebate per auto...that would be over 222,222 automobile purchases in less than a week.
thats 30,000 cars sold a day.it seems impossible to sell that many cars in a week..

so where is all this money going??

we the taxpayers are getting fucked left and right by the crooks running DC..

    upon further examination,

if my math is right its easily possible. 17 million cars were sold in 2005 that equates to over 300,000 a week.

    the number was found here,,

$4,500 is the most you can get back, it's not the avarage amount of the rebate.. Of course we're getting fucked left and right by this socialist regime that all the hip cool people elected into office.. Haha I remember back to day after the election, and some chick on here was saying that she was sitting by her TV with a box of tissues watching the results and crying because she was soooo happy Obama got elected, wonder if she's still crying now??? Only for different reasons, and the best is yet to come..

    Peace
