So I got a thing in the mail telling me there's a local election coming up, and I've only ever voted once before, when I was 19. Anyways, I have no idea whatsoever about local politics, or indeed, politics in general. I don't know if I should just not worry about it, vote like someone whose opinion I trust, or actually educate myself. Have you ever voted? Do you think it's pointless, or can you achieve something by letting your voice be heard?
i've voted a couple times. pretty sure everything i've ever voted on ended up going the opposite way of how i voted.
Haven't voted in years. Waste of time. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Voting does not in any way, shape or form represent democracy.
some asshole held a special meeting to have the board of directors of my HOA recalled. I sit on this board> long story short, we won by an overwhelming majority.
i don`t vote. fuck politics, freaking creeps that are controling people for thousand of years. nobody has the right to control you, to create laws and to give you rights. you already have those rights they are your birth right as a human being and those "rights" they give you are just statmets that you already have them. why even having a freaking id card ? it is all a massive, global brainwash. having an id card somehow in my mind means that somebody owns you...because this is a certificate...just like we are an objects, not humans not persons, an objects to manipulate. i don`t vote. i dont give a shit who will be the next man that thinks he has power to control the masses, who thinks he is higher, superior and start creating another restrictions and shit that should not excist in the real human world.
I only vote when I feel that I am properly educated on the issues and candidates. If I haven't done enough reserach, I don't cast a vote. Too many people are truly uneducated when they head to the election polls, making unwise decisions without actually knowing the facts. The last time I voted was this past presidental election. I haven't voted on any local issues lately. The way I see it is this. I have no right to complain about the condition of the country/state/city if I haven't at least done my part and cast my vote to try and change things otherwise. Then, when the s*** hits the fan, I can bitch all I want.
Voting is good for the people in charge because it makes the average person feel like they have a say in things. Of course they don't, but they need to maintain that illusion so people get behind these turncoats that are selling them up the river. If people realized that voting is a joke and that they have no real say in things, their system would be toast by tomorrow. I don't vote and I never will.
I send an abscentee ballot to Israel with a vote for the Green Leaf (marijuana legalization) Party every election.
I dunno. We only made it to the Parliament in Israel once or twice. I dunno if you can a find a more socially liberal nation on earth than Israel though... kinda explains the ridiculous amount of stoners.
They're all in India! Or in the army waiting to get out so they can bugger off to India to smoke chillums. Got some organisation called Transform over here who are currently making some headway with the idiots in government about the drugs policy though, some government advisors are now starting to suggest tha the police just let dealers deal, because the whole strategy is only making things worse. they bust one dealer, then someone else takes their place, and it just creates a turf war. AND the tax payer has to pay to keep dealers and growers in prison. They are also saying that alcohol and tobacco should be banned, but I doubt they will go down that road, well the might, they are taht fucking stupid it seems. Ban alcohol and then everyone starts dying and going blind from dodgy home made vodka.
I have never voted, and can only vote in French elections, anyways, and couldn't care less since I don't live there..
Educate yourself. It isn't anybody elses vote but your own. I voted Green the first time around...but then I quickly switched to Labour. I feel more intune with them these days. I'd say on a local level you have more of an opportunity to alter things with your vote...
Heh, yeah, pretty much. There is actually an entire "rehab city" dedicated to curing young Israelis from the drug addictions they developed while traveling to India. Transform guys seem to be taking the right path, but the alcohol and tobacco extremism won't do them too much good. Hell, tobacco will probably be banned in the modern world as it is within 25 or so years. It's a shame.
