What pat means is that you need to actually give your hair time to knot up and what not before you truly need wraps and beads. Your hair isn't going to be able to move around and knot up if you have a wrap on it. Wraps are good for flat dreads or loopy ones that you want to make round. Same with beads.

I didn't use elastics in my hair but some people that did found them helpful. I think as long as you don't keep them in too long you'll be alright but you probably will have to cut them out when you do take them out.

 

Yeah, most of them are out now. The idea of goo in my dreads got me working on that.
