I just thought I'd let everyone know. Homemade mayonnaise is 1000 times better than fake disgusting white "mayo" - I'm sorry it shouldn't even be called that. Just an egg yolk, 1 teaspoon of Dijon mustard, salt, pepper, and slowly add the vegetable oil (not olive! - sunflower works best) while you mix with the electric mixer for about 5 minutes. It's supposed to whip up, if it doesn't, there's a problem, it shouldn't stay liquidy. You're welcome!
Hi, as a youngling I got nausea when I was forced to eat homemade mayo and mayo in general. I guess it was because the unnamed person who mixed that stuff together produced an oily disgusting mass instead of mayo... I can eat that stuff now as part of a salad or such, but it's not my favorite food. Regards Gyro
I've been making my own organic mayo for years. :smilielol5: Seriously, though cheers for the recipe. I've been getting into making salad dressings lately, with hemp oil, balsamic vinegar and heinz salad cream LOL It pretty good actually, and it's got hemp oil in it which is really good for you. Great with avocado and tomato.
i loooooooooooove home made mayo. my granny makes and i just love it so much. its one of my most favourite things to eat. i like to make sandwiches with it.mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
no, just separate the yolk from the white.. and only use the yolk.. it's very easy - the hard part is just using the right amount of oil and having a good mixer! some people manage by hand.. I don't know how..
Fair enough. I always thought it was the white. When I was younger I tried making egg nog, or drinking raw eggs, and mixing t with coca cola so it didn't feel so much like you were drinking spunk, and I was always told not to drink the yolk because that was the bit you had to cook to eat it and if you didn't you could get food poisoning. It'd half to be proper organic free range eggs is I was to make this.
oh, I never got sick from homemade mayo! then again - I don't think I've ever had a non-organic free-range egg in my life.. except maybe at diners.. hmm not sure what they use there.. but I just love eggs so much. come to think of it though mayo is probably the only thing I've ever had with a non-cooked egg yolk.. but trust me, it's good!
That doesn't sound too bad I guess.. But generally I despise mayo, I think it's one of the nastiest foods ever.
