I like to put my water and tea bags in a pitcher and sit it out in the sunlight for around 6 or 7 hours, then add a touch of sugar. I think it gives it a better flavor than boiling the water and letting the bags simmer.
it'll also give you bacterial infections. i dunno i don't drink much sweet tea b/c if i'm orderin out, i know for a fact it was made that morning and will taste old. i basically only drink it if i make it at home. i hate lemon in my sweet tea. and i also hate when it tastes like sugar water and no tea flavor comes through.
I ordered sweet tea at a restaurant, in the Panhandle mind you. They brought be tea and some bags of sugar. >_<
you should never boil or simmer any tea. it ruins it. tea water should be just below boiling when you put the tea bags in . there are some exceptions for medicinal herbal teas but for your typical drinking teas you should never boil the water.
That's just the way my aunt makes hers. I agree, the taste just isn't right. She's the only person I've ever seen do it besides her daugther, but it's gross either way. My mamaw always let hers sit out in the sunlight. I think it's the best.
depends on how sweet you like it...if you're a sugar fiend it's gotta be boiling, else the water can never be super-saturated.
