Just wondering if anyone here likes Leadbelly. Leadbelly appreciation thread. I heard he got his name after he got shot in the gut by a shot gun, and lived of course. I've also heard he got an early release from prison because the warden liked his music so much. Led Zeppelin, CCR, The Animals, Nirvana and Ram Jam have covered his more well known songs. Their Live Aid performence was phenominal.
Leadbelly's stuff is great, and what a saga of a life he led! .....there's an old biopic about him, you may want to check it out if you get the chance - just when you think it can't get any worse for him...it does!
