Yeah, the only dog that's ever bit me was a chihuahua. :p It seems a lot of people with small dogs can't really be bothered with training or socialisation since small dogs can just be picked up and carried around rather than their owners actually having to control them.

the locking jaw thing is false, and any dog can choose to hold on or just bite and stop, it has nothing to do with breed. and once again, can somebody please give better sources than wikipedia? for the love of god!

ok, so this exerpt from your beloved wiki proves my point that dig bite statistics can be inaccurate:
"There is a limited number of studies concerning the number of deaths caused by pit bull-type dogs. The number of bites, serious injuries, and fatalities attributed to these dogs is difficult to validate or cross-compare with other study results because:

studies dependent on surveying news reports may not find all the relevant news items
different studies use different data collection methodologies and evaluation criteria
breed identification requires a subjective evaluation based on observation of outward physical attributes against imprecise breed standards.
it is impossible to say with certainty if the number of pit bull-type dog attacks is out of proportion to the number of pit bull-type dogs in the population because the total number of pit bulls in any geographic area is unknown.[11] "

I think it's hilarious that in 15 pages people are just arguing about if they are good dogs or not. The OP was asking for owners of these dogs, not who's brother has been bitten by what and what you think of the breed's ban. You're obviously not going to sway a person either way if they already have the animal/have positive experiences with the breed. Just sayin...

I didn't read every post, but point blank I don't give a fuck if anyone has a problem with pitbulls. don't come to my house then. it's funny, the house I just moved out of had two pits, and my weimaraner is the dog people needed to worry about.

some of you sound ridiculous. I understand the concern people have, especially parents. they are dogs capable of doing some damage. but you have to realize there is a high degree of hype and misinformation about this issue. if the animal is properly cared for and socialized, they are incredible pets. the owner has more control through training than anything inherent in the breed. the problem is there are a lot of stupid humans.

go fuck yourself, dumbass. first of all, I didnt pay anything for him. somebody owed me. second of all, I saw both of the parents and their papers, and I know how to judge a good bloodline. third, I don't give a fuck about your friends animals. or yours for that matter. but it's extra lame to come at me like that when you don't even have a "champion bloodline" to back up your arrogance.

    thanks. his name is Nyjah

and he is growing fast xD

    Hey dumbass,,

My friend, the other "dumbass" and I don't plan on coming over anytime soon.

I must say, however, that it is those such as yourself that give us great hope that the bloodline is in good hands, to give the pit the proper "training", "care" and "socialization", to overcome all of the "hype" and "misinformation". We would never consider you to be one of those "stupid humans" that are the root of the problem. Far from it. With the breed in your capable hands, I am certain that the children of the world will be safe once again to roam the streets free of fear.

    God bless America.

Seems kind of emo to me. The thread actually has about as many pit lovers as pit haters, IMO. The lovers are saying "ooooh theyre so protective of children".

Nobody wins, until you include ALL the "facts", not just the ones you prefer.

 No idea what the hell "emo" is. It sounds ridiculous

I read the first couple of pages and replied, as people very often do. I have a right to comment on what I think about the negative posts. I did. Get the fuck over it

Thought you'd know. It's you, getting emotional. Emotion can cloud one's judgment, or inform one's perception, depending. When you seem to only see one side of an issue, it indicates the former.

"One man's meat is another man's poison."

What you call "negative posts" are just facts, events, reports, of particular instances and situations where the breed being discussed has shown a propensity toward violence, and a characteristic outcome. There are other events showing a protective tendency, indicating something to be valued. To include one trait while excluding the other reveals a bias, and an unscientific stance. Until the whole picture is derived from a weighing of all the facts, one may find oneself "confused". I'm not confused, because I know dogs can be capable of both love, and also exhibit a killing instinct.

My own realistic contention is that one may find a chainsaw to be useful in scratching one's back, in the absence of a friend. I would not, however, suggest it.

I'm getting "the fuck" over it. Thanks.

he's the bloodline I wanted, guard dog. I didn't want one of those big 22" pig-headed pits all the gangstas walk around the beach with. how about we just see how he grows? I will post pics periodically. he is going to be a gorgeous animal.

and these pups typically sell for $400. "champion" pits can be upwards of $1500, blues, razors edge, etc. but it can be argued those aren't even true pits. I'm happy with him so that is all that matters.
