    Ever been on one?
    Thoughts on them?

I've been to Vaishno Devi a few times (went this time too) but not really anything like Lourdes. This time in India we saw loads of Kanwarias.

    example here: http://www.indiamike.com/photopost/data/502/IMG_0710.JPG

They carry water from the Ganges back to the temples in the village/towns. Most go to Haridwar. But the water cant touch the ground. I totally wish I could do it.

I'm not really too clear on what a pilgrimage is, but those are really pretty.

    haha!

We brought back water in a small plastic jug.
Picked it up, all the silt was at the bottom. Like a cm or two worth! xD

and that was from the top of the river.

    Life is a pilgrimage

No, I haven't been on one. I can see how they can be good for the soul, like any journey.

    Hi,

nice to see you back :).

Well, I don't worship anything enough to go on a pilgrimage in a traditional sense. But I like to go in the woods for some time, clear my mind and (hopefully) come to the conclusion that there is more stuff and more important stuff than my own trouble. Afterwards I often feel relieved, so maybe it's some kind of pilgrimage.

    Regards
    Gyro

The dictionary definitions says going to pay homage to something for example to shakespeares grave.

it doesn't have to be religious.

I was planning to make a thread when I get the photos. eh, cba. xD

We flew to Delhi, stayed there for the night, then the next morning we flew to Jammu. There we travelled in car to katra. by the time we were reading to start the walk up to Vaishno Devi it was 5.30pm. By the time we made it to the top it was around 10 o clock.

    Fasted I've ever done it!

Next day we went to the darshan or whatever you call it. Did it, walked down (which took ages actually). Then got a 'taxi' to Amritsar. By the time we got to Amritsar it was early morning the next day.

Then we visited various relatives in Amritsar. I met my second cousin again, who has the same name as me...and she showed me her tooth! Which had fallen out the day before.

Oh yeah, I'm so badass little children show me their teeth.

Anyway, from there we went to Haridwar, stopping in Phagwara where my aunt is. We stayed in Haridwar for a week doing Pranayam, yoga and blah di blah. We also went to Har ki pauri just in time for the aarti. Saw Maa ChandiDevi and Maa MansaDevi - went in chairlifts for those!! :D

Haridwar was absolutely chocabloc with Kanwarias.

After that we went to Saranpur (which may be spelt saharanpur) where my grandfathers brothers son is. Stayed there for a few hours then went to Ambala where my uncle is. Stayed there the night.

After that we went to Muzaffarnagar and I really cant remember who's there. Then moved on to Meerut. where my grandfathers brothers widow and family are. Stayed there the night too. Saw the most beautiful suit there, seriously! I'm still in love with it. But I couldn't get it. All the shops there got the dress' in one size and then altered them and we didn't have time. =( But it's okay, i got some more later! haha!

After that we went to Noida where my (now deceased) grandmothers sister is. And her family. My cousin there sang the barbie girl song to me!! haha!

Oh yeah, I'm so badass little children sing the barbie girl song to me.

From there we went to Gurgaon where another of my grandfathers brothers is. Stayed there for two nights. It was VERY posh there. They were paying like 5 thousand ruppees a month for the flat maintenance (they already owned it). It was pretty big too. Anyway, there we went shopping but didnt really find and so we didn't buy anything good.

Whilst staying there we went to Faridabad and there we went shopping again. That was good. I got a lovely suit there instead! xD And there was this little 2 year old girl there, Tia, who really enjoyed me and my brothers poke fight...! xD

Actually, the way things worked out there I was actually supposed to be her aunt but the age gap meant they just referred to me as her sister. And I met my second cousin there too, he was in an accident and can't talk or walk properly. He was on a motorbike and a dog just popped up in his path. He hit his head on the concrete in the middle of the road. Lucky he survived.

Then yesterday early morning we went to visit another set of relatives, I can't remember how they're related to us but they were people we've visited a few times over the years. My uncle there died a while back which was real sad.

They have a badass dog though now! HUGE! Seriously... xD

Um.. what else to say... Oh yeah, there were a few relatives and such that we visited in other towns but I can't remember who or where they were in relation to me.

Oh yeah! And last thing. When we went shopping we went to a buffet restaurant and I went to get ice cream and there was this little kid and his mum there. She asked me if he could scoop the ice cream for me because he really wanted to! hahaha... xD So yeah.

I'm so badass little children scoop my ice cream.

Woah. That was WAY longer than I thought.

And the last, last thing I wanted to say was when we were staying at the Yog place. (Patanjali Yogpeeth) there was this guy that came to ask if we had any complaints about the place (like the manager I think he was). Anyway, then later I went to see the doctor. He saw me and he was like "Ma'am, are you lost? You know where you are?" and i was like "Yeah, i'm fine thanks. Just going to see the doctor." And he was like okay, if you're know where you're going.

So i walked away and realised I was in completely the wrong place but I didn't want him to know so I went up the stairs and walked along the upper floors to find my way back!

    To Nesta:
    I would assume this.

I never knew the actual translation. Just contexts.

I feel like this is supposed to be a jab at my character but I don't understand why...?

Aww.. okay. Are you still sticking around on the internet in general?
Because there's also Zoomies forum and Relayers forum.
