Gonna Be Naked Onstage, A Little Nervous lol...

Ok, so this week I was cast as Malcom in an amature production of "The Full Monty", & suddenly I'm very nervous lol.

I mean, I'm really excited to get to sing "Big-Ass Rock" (always been one of my fav showtunes ), but "Let It Go!" (the finale) scares the crap out of me, I mean I'm gonna be totally naked onstage in front of sell-out crowds.

Advice?

 

big ass rock is a fantastic song! - funny as hell so that should be fun

i have yet to be nude onstage but my best bet would be to practice full out in rehearsals to just get used to having people seeing you naked and all.. if it were me i would probably walk around my house naked too just for the hell of it especially cause the more time you spend bare the more youll be comfortable in general

opening night though... nothings gonna ease the butterflie you just gotta go for it and forget about the thoughts of others.. its not about that, it's about your art work and passion for theatre and if the character strips HE STRIPS! lol go for it dude, i bet it will be way more liberating then you think

To noodist_jen, I'm not a nudist! lol. If I was, I'm sure I wouldnt be as nervous about this. And yea, there are gonna be 5 others guys naked onstage with me.

 

I have not acted since I was at school, so if I was in your position I would feel nervous even if I was fully clothed. If others are nude as well I hope it will make it less nerve racking. I think a part of my nervousness would be if certain people saw me naked more than anything else.

There have been a few opportunities where I could have gone naked in a quasi theatrical setting and wish I had at the time realised that I had the chance and taken it. I was at the Edinburgh Fringe at a show with a pool where the performer invited people to go in the pool if they wished, and on another night some people had. I regret not thinking about taking my clothes off and going in at the time.

 

Well, we got naked for the first time last night lol

Having done some amateur theatre back in college, I can't help but wonder about one thing, too: makeup. How much powder did the nude main cast need? I mean, without it you'd have gleamed in the stage lights...

We didn't open yet lol, we just had our first (un)dress rehearsal of the finale.

And we're doing pretty basic stage makeup, the point of us stripping is supposed to be we're just average guys, not the polished "pro" strippers of Chipendales.

 

Dude. I applaud you for just having the guts to be on stage, nevermind being on stage naked!

Just go with the flow, that's what I can suggest
