Avril was never really punk. I'd hardley even consider her first album to be pop-punk. I was really impressed with her first concert DVD and hoped that her music might introduce kids into the punk or pop-punk scene. Have you all seen her most recent concert DVD? I think it's called Avril Live in Toronto. It's completely different than the first concert DVD - her image is different, the music is more "pop", and I even saw parents with their kids in the audience. More of a "family friendly" Avril that's being portrayed now. I've really lost respect for her since seeing that concert DVD.
avril lavigne makes me really mad. she tries so hard to be "punk" and "different", and sits there fingering her asshole with her striped arm-warmers (that every kid in the world that loves shopping at hot topic buys) when asked about the sex pistols. i hate her, and would off myself if i were like that.
I don't know why people make fun of her... She isn't a sell out. She worked her ass off to get where she is today. Sure her music sucks, but it isn't supposed to be anything spectacular. It's pop music for kids. I remember when she was touring around here a few years ago, nobody even knew he she was. But then she released a music video and she exploded. It's not her fault dumb kids by her shitty music. She's a damn smart businesswoman now. That's for sure.
The labels that signed her and marketed her are the geniuses. She's just a pretty face getting a free ride on the gravy train.

That's why I said she's a businesswoman now. She was just happy to get signed then probably thinking that she was actually making a difference in the music industry haha.
