what are you favorite albums with an upbeat vibe that always puts you into a good lear headspace before your trip. for me the white album by the beatles is great so is beck's guero and if im feeling saucey boards of canada, weird war, or the beta band.
Campfire headphase by boards of canada, I know you mentioned them but you never mentioned which album
first GD albums for when you first take it Live/Dead for when you are way far gone American Beauty for when you are comin' down wasn't aware that people actually listen to not Grateful Dead when they drop acid
Happy Trails by Quicksilver Messenger Service is perfect for this also Hendrix, Floyd, Zeppelin, Byrds, Jefferson Airplane, etc....
I'd never heard Boards of Canada until reading about it on this thread - all right! No music coming up and peaking, then Grateful Dead, especially American Beauty - nothing mysto, just pure mind & heart. And speaking of mind, Liquid Acrobat as Regards the Air by Incredible String Band. Some of those old groups, and I'm sure newer ones too, really took a lot of care with their listener's minds. It's not nothing to create music for tripping.
It might seem a strange choice, but I like Counting Crow's August and Everything After. It's got it's fair share of downers-- in fact, almost every song is about alienation or loss or quiet moments pondering the meaning of life and why she did that to me or why I had to leave her-- but the over-all feeling is very grounded and earthy. It feels strong and wise and full of love. And that accordion next to the hammond organ over the simple guitar...it carries me away.
American Don - Don Caballero [check this out if you like math rock] Nothing lasts... - Shpongle The Last days of Gravity - Younger Brother Kind of Blue - Miles Davis Dig Your Own Hole - The Chemical Brothers Magical Mystery Tour - The beatles.
