Seeing my surroundings with my eyes closed...

Basically, this has been happening a lot lately when I sit down to meditate. I usually just do zen meditation, and avoid getting into a trance, but occasionally I do go with the flow and "Trance it Out". A few weeks ago, I was in my bedroom. This room is completely empty, except for a few boxes and some chords running across the floor. I was in my position, and started going into a trance state. After a while, I noticed something weird... It was like I could see through my eyelids while my eyes were closed. I could see the light switch, the heater, boxes, and the chords running across the floor. I figured my mind was just playing tricks. Maybe my subcounsious was picking it up because it already knew where these things were. Keeping my eyes closed, I reached for where I thought the chord would be, and it was exactly in the same form I seen it as. rolled up in a circular fashion. At this point I was pretty amazed, but I wanted find out what I was really experiencing. I grabbed the the chord, and began to move it up slowly. Amazingly, I saw the movement of the chord with my eyes closed.
I should mention that what I was seeing wasn't a perfect image. Infact, it was far from perfect. Every object, the brown box, the light switch, the white chord; they were all a transperant dark red with the background black... So I couldn't see the floor, the walls, etc... Just the objects. They were kind of glowing. Only slightly though.

Anyone ever experienced anything like this or have some idea of what it can be?

 

I have experienced something like that in those exact colours while performing a Reiki (healing) treatment on a few people. To me it looked like an x-ray 'cept it was in red and black instead of black and white. Like you I had my eyes closed and I was seeing the part of the body I was touching. Thanks for posting that...windy

 

this happens to me everytime I wake up from a deep sleep (like waking up on a saturday, sunday, at my own pace, without being startled)

 

Like killuminati, often when I'm waking up just slightly and then dozing off again, I'll have the experience of seeing my immediate surroundings through my closed eyelids. But not like you saw - the colors and such. That seems different. About the only things I've experienced that seem similar to that are the couple of times I've "crossed over," as my spirit guide Deanna calls it - I experienced the same scene simultaneously from two points of view - one with my eyes, and the other as a vivid vision having nothing to do with my sense of sight, in shades of gray with no color, and with a vision of energy superimposed.

Your experience is fascinating, and makes me interested in pursuing Zen meditation - though I realize that the aim of Zen meditation is not to pursue experiences like that, and actually I think Zen masters discourage students from getting distracted by such experiences. But they are fascinating, nonetheless.

 

sounds like you're just seeing the room with your third eye - reptiles even have a third eye that can sense changes in the light, etc.

I saw Reiki mentioned and had to say something, my moms big into reiki and other massage/healing things like this, she uses crystals in a lot of her work, did you go to school for it and are you experienced, she would love to read this so thank you.

 

Hi Smokin...I had 2 different teachers for my Usui Reiki attunements. I started practicing about 5 years ago. I've never been really big on all the other types of Reiki out there (and there are ALOT!) but one that did interest me was Kundalini Reiki. I've just received my 2nd degree/attunement for this. You mention your mom uses crystals...I've just bought a book on Reiki and Crystal Healing. Does she have much experience in that area?

 

Hello all...I am new here. I was not looking to join but I came across this thread and had to answer it.

I am a Usui Reiki Master and I use crystal wands to facilitate healings. I have also seen things with my third eye but the most interesting happened recently. I wear a moldavite crystal when I meditate and, don't know why I never did this before, but I touched the crystal to my forehead and saw a mottled green color. That is the color of the crystal. It is emerald green and has a mottled texture as it was made from a meteorite.

I thought it strange that I saw the green color even after I took the crystal away. I then tried it again and, even though my eyes were closed, whenever I would move the crystal over my forehead I would see the crystal. It was as if a scracthy picture of it was being beamed onto a projector in my forehead. I have seen visions with my third eye before but this was quite different.

Anyone interested in learning about moldavite can find lots of info on the net. It is a very interesting crystal!

I am at work right now but one day when I have time I will write about how I use crystal wands in Reiki to find blockages in people. It is much quicker than using the hand routine.

 

First step in astral projection

 

I was wondering if anyone would say that. Lol

I have not had good results with astral projection, but when it happened to me it was not in my accordance. It was spontaneous I guess you would say.

I have experienced it three times and each time was rather terrifying. More like nightmares actually.

The last time it happened to me was many years ago when I was in the Navy. We were off the coast of Viet Nam and I was dead tired from many house on watch. It was noontime and I finally got some time off but I just wanted to get some sleep so I climbed into my bunk.

I am not sure how long I had been asleep but suddenly I needed to wake up but could not. I had a bad feeling something was after me and I had to wake up. I was doing all I could do to wake up, make a noise, shake myself, whatever but I was stiff as a board.

Suddenly I rose up out of my bunk and floated to the ground. Yes, floated. I wanted to talk to somebody to see if I was really awake but no one could see or hear me.

There was a group of my buddies playing cards on the floor next to some other bunks so I went to watch. I could see all the cards of the players and knew who was going to win. When the game was over I felt drawn back to my bunk. Someone was standing over me speaking to me. It was time for me to get back on watch and I was being summoned.

As soon as I got back in my body I mentioned to my buddy who had won the card game and that he had played his cards well. I even told him what cards he had. Of course that did not go over very well, he gave me a strange look and said I better get on watch. We never mentioned the incident again.

So, astral projection has been something that hasn agreed with me. I have tried to make it happen on my own without any success.

 

This is so weird. I found myself doing the same thing recently, but I didnt see black and red. I saw the world as if my eyes were open, but they were tightly shut. Hmm... interesting. Perhaps I should seek a spiritual guide and find out if what I am doing is astral projection or something else....

i havent read all the replies to this but it sounds like the beginning of astral projection. you may have been using your astral eyes to scan the room...the next step is to get up and walk to touch a wall or something...if youre already seeing beyond your eyes without trying youre doing pretty well..

 

I've been practicing with my psychic abilities for over a year and when I developed my skill in scanning to where I could see the complete energy systems and the deeper layers of the energy body I began to notice that I could see physical objects with my eyes closed. It's sort of like just a vague outline of white smoke over a solid black background when I'm in a dark room with my eyes close. I am almost to where I could almost see my fingers well enough to count them and I'm sure that if I went blind I could learn how to see again using astral sight. If I'm scanning and looking at a person the person looks solid to my physical eyes but almost crystal like to my third eye they appear as if made of layers of smoky glass with liquid light in the center (the soul) then colored tubes flowing energy from a center point the size of a soft ball (energy systems) I don't perceive auras very well and chakras are also hard for me to perceive with my third eye but I can feel both of them with my hands which feels almost like a magnetic push.
