but it's totally fine that i cut off contact with my friends? i'm fine with not smoking for a bit, but not seeing my friends because my parents assume i smoke pot with them (one of the guys they said not to hang out with doesn't even smoke) is absurd.

do they have footies on em?

    for real dude. grow up

if you think you have a foolproof way of hiding your pot (ha) then you could find a way to meet with your friends regardless of your parents' rules. just don't be bringing pot back to the house - simple as that

Then what was all that advice supposed to be if you know it doesn't work?

    The "" denoted sarcasm, sparky.

You really don't want advice do you-- you just wanna whine.

Advice? okay here is my sincere advice...

Suck it up and abide by the rules until you go back to school and none of the fallout of your genius decision making can splatter on your folks. Stop bitching about it because that doesn't help any and frankly, no one is going to feel any more sympathy towards you because of it.

we gave you a bunch of advice - some pretty good advice, i think - and you are complaining that it doesn't fit in with your picture perfect lifestyle...everything in life isn't handed to you, and more often than not it is taken away.

either you work to get things you want back and keep it that way or you just sit around and be as useful to the world as a puddle. perhaps even less useful...

This is the most fundamental truth that you'll get out of this thread, OP

that's what i'm saying. i'd like to move out, but no amount of "work" will make it possible to do because of the distance to my job.

If you cannot see your role in what has happened then I'm flabbergasted that you made it into college. They really must have lowered their standards since I was your age.... and yes, this is another piece in that puzzle too!

    Here's a novel concept:

    GET A NEW FUCKING JOB!

And it probably wouldn't hurt to grow some testicles, too.

or save money to buy a car to get your ass to your job from a new living place, like i've been saying this entire time.

theirs no magical cure for overbearing parents.

suck it up until you can save up enough money for a car and then figure out a way to move out...though moving out just develops into more problems so youre going to have to learn to deal with them

ok, i didn't want to do this but i'm gonna have to explain exactly what my job is.

i responded to a posting on craigslist asking for someone with a lot of math experience. i responded, ended up interviewing and getting this job. turned out the job was this guy's attempt to fix the education system in the US, so he's having a development team make some software and having me and one other guy write explanation sheets, questions, and solutions for every topic in math. and the project is supposed to be completed by the end of august so he can try to get schools to implement it. we work at his house, and he pays me presumably with his own money. i can't just pull out now, his project would be fucked.

to stinkfoot: where did i go wrong in this whole process then? (assuming that no matter what i was gonna smoke pot, and wanted to get away with it)? there was nothing i could have done differently there.

not gonna be possible though. i make 325 a week after taxes, so it would take me a couple weeks to save up the money for a car, and by that time the summer will be over anyway.
