tricky situation. im not too close to my father at all...we dont talk that much. we basically only talk now when he calls to give me money to make up for being pretty lousy. ive been invited to go to the united arab emirates to visit him next year for the entire summer. i wouldnt have to pay for any of it. i think it could potentially be a good bonding experience...i think hes trying to make up for not being there. this could also be one of his attempts to win me over with nice things like a free vacation. then again it would be a nice chance to experience a part of my culture

ive always wanted to travel and see as much of the world as possible though

what do you think? would you go?

Sounds Fair Enough, But When you Say "Win Me Over" I Sense He May

Be Going To Turn You Against His Ex (your mother)..:(.

Tis really Impossible For Anyone On Here To Honestly Answer This

    Without Knowing All The Details.

Just Be Cautious, And Remember Money Talks.:).

    Cheers Glen.

    Hi,

depends on what 'not too close' means exactly for you. UAE might be worth to travel to. But I don't like running in situations where I have to be thankful and some other person then exploites that situation. I would not go under such circumstances.

    Regards
    Gyro

i would not go. the situation with the father...it`s delicate.
but that is just me. i think you should decide alone for yourself.
on the other hand it can be a really great trip.

fuck yes i would go. unless your dad is a complete piece of shit, it would be silly not to take advantage of such an opportunity. even if he is a complete piece of shit, why not use his money to do something cool, like spend a summer abroad?

you can't get much more specific; i think the entire country is about the size of a football field...

Well... you CAN get more specific. The country is much larger than commonly thought, though it IS rather small. I went around the border in a matter of 8 hours, ahah. My experience was mostly of Abu Dhabi and the surrounding cities in Dubai, which were WONDERFUL. The United Arab Emirates in general is beautiful. What appealed most to me was their low crime rate; vandalism is unseen, stealing is unheard of. Everyone there is wonderfully kind and incredibly friendly, as is custom in most Arab cultures. UAE is great, in my opinion, and has taken a very modern twist in the past few years. I doubt you could have a bad time there, even if you tried. :]

    Also, the beaches are beautiful.

    [/end rant]

well, i was joking about the football field thing.

8 hours though? did you just drive the border to see how long it takes?

Nuuu, my father INSISTED we not ask for directions despite the fact that it was the first time any of us had ever been in the country and we got lost. [/shakes head]

In the persian gulf, to the east of Saudi Arabia. About the size of South Carolina

It's on of the richest places in the world.
