    Hello all,
It's been forever, but that's me with forums and having a daycare in my house...lol
Have a question or 2 about my dreads
Dreads were backcombed in Jan and we didn't finish the ends. Since I've rolled them a few times, and wash 1-2x/week and keep ripping them apart at the roots but that's it.
They're not knotted at the ends, some up to half of the hair, but I like it like that, and I have some loose hairs framing my face, which I also like, I think it's kind of pretty.
Question is about the part close to my head. It's knotting (like I said, have to rip it apart lots) and it's kind of flat and there are LOTS of loops, S loops, thick and thin spots, etc. Rolling doesn't seem to help, but I hardly do it, maybe once a month I'll sit down and get them all. I often wear a poneytail because I'm pregnant and hot all the time...lol
Should I be rolling them more? Should I wear poneytail less (I'll have my hear in the same poneytail for days)? Do I just need to be patient?
I'll TRY to post some pics today
    Thanks and :cheers2:

rolling is a total waste of time
how old are they and how do you tie them in the pony?

it sounds like theyre in the rebelios teen ager stage which means theyre gonna wanna run wild and the more ya try to control em the more they'll rebel

if you use an elastic to tie em back thatsd gonna harm em, you should tie 1 dread round em if u can

and leaving em in a pony for days can lead to extra combining requiring extra ripping that can lead to the thinning

i knew a girlk that kept hers up in a wrap for days at time, the result was balls on the ends and the rest never really dreaded

you should let em hang as much as u can tie em back to cool down but untie em at night at least

the loops will ressolve themsdelves as they move from teen to adult stage

Ya, I use an elastic, the covered kind and I don't do it tight, but they're still in there A LOT!
They're 6-7 months old, so I don't expect them to be totally behaving. Good to know on the poneytail and the rolling, definately don't want to waste my time :)

yea absolutely worked and i know i said thios before and has nothing to do with the subjectr so is inapropriate entirely so i hope ya just love compliments enough to forgive me for that but you are sooo beautiful
    ok moving on

yea pretty much what i figutred except lil more so then i expected keeping em in a pony too much is causing a rats nest of mattedness at thye roots thatcan cause a unidread if yoyur not careful
the loopies are gorgouse and i love em they will smooth out somewhat but ya probly will haver some permenant remaining lumps and bumps that add charachter..nothi8ng bad about that at all

the 1 your holding out looked like its alrewady 3 or so congoesd together but hard to tell

for the next 3 weeks id double the ripping efforts and decrease the time kept tied up to about 1/4 or so of what u do now..only when your really overheated ..and tie em as loose as will hold..at least for now
the 1str piuc shows a real tendency to wanna become 1 huge dread if ya continue tying em into 1 huge ponytail...

u may wanna do a lil seperating evcerytime u take em down especialy if you had em tied up longer then 12 hours

dont use tye elasstic even the covered kind

for your hair length id take 1 dread from the bottom on either side of the back of your neck and pull them acrooss the rest and tie (not in a knot, you can just tuck 1 under the other and pull semi tight and they'll hold) if theyre loing enough to, you can cross them under the rest before wrapping around over them and that will lift em slightly off your neck

you can alternate that with the good ol pineapple head look bend forward flipping all the hair up, take 1 dread from the crown of youir head wrap it around the rest and tuck it under itself
then give em a gentle shake to fluff em or u can pull each dread lil to neatten it up
i find this to be the coolest (tempwise) way as it gets it all pretty much off your neck and shoulders

I'd just like to add that palm-rolling dreads isn't a waste of time. It doesn't help them lock faster, but it doesn't slow them down either. I find that it stops them from getting flat.
