see my previous post steam power is very difficult to maintain... the high pressure causes malfunctioning pretty easily... there's a reason we stopped using steam power. there was a new bill passed recently... here you go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3foa-tAKe1Q methinks you're talking about the Tesla roadster http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tesla_Roadster ever watch this movie? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Who_Killed_the_Electric_Car?
your right ofcourse one idea ive been playing with awhile (wish i had the funds to make it reality) would be highly efficient basicly a soarable ultralight with a solar sustainer motor (collapsable or featherable props for off power drag reduvction) it wouldnt even need a powerful enough motor to launch, since it could be launched by bungy (human power to winch it back the stored energy in the bungy would be plenty to get it to 1500 feet (typicaly winch/auto launches climb at a 45 degree angle very fast with a short take off distance and only reach a max altitude of 1500 which only gives you 20 minutes max flight time unless u find a thermal in thge 1st 5-10 min) but a solar sustainer would alow you to maintain alti8tude, even maybe climb slowly while you search for lift sources... once you find them your just converting altitude into distance and current high end racing ships like the janus can easily do 500 miles at over 100 mph with no sustainer, only using thermal and otherr lift sources (ridge and mountain waves) its possible that using soaring combined with the sustainable low power flight to reduce the need for time spent thermaling the speed over ground could be extended to 800 or more miles at over 150 mph (150 would be alot to expect from an ultralight design though, i was thinking ultralight at 1st just to make it accessible to non pilots too (no liscence needed) but dont worry pat i wont try explaining aereodynamics and lift to drag ratios and all the other theories behind it to ya i'll just tell ya that the main power source is...gravity and atmospheric instability
dude your an idiot wax burns .. petrolium fuels explode its a controlled explosio9n that drives the piston if it only burned it would create only heat no force thats why wood or paper cant be used to power a internal combustion engine but can be used to heat water to create steam which creates force to drive a turbine
just the oposite wax burnes very slowly thats why its used in candles to extend the life.. the string in the candle if burnhed alone would be consummed in miunutes but the wax vapors burn instead of the string so it extends the life for hours
that sounds pretty cool, would love to see you get that working. Quite a literal take on your name, don't you think?
No one can be 'perfect', that's why we have to choose our battles, I suppose. Some people don't smoke anything and bitch at smokers, but eat crap food and drink aspertame and fluoride filled drinks. We choose our poisons...
I don't smoke anything, don't bitch at smokers, and eat plenty of crap food. I'd never bitch at someone for what they choose to do with their own bodies. oh, and I am perfect by the way.... perfectly flawed.
hey just be glad that some people are so confused aboiut how candles work that i didnt bother trying to explain all thye formulas involved in calculating lift over drag ratios minumum sink ratios aspect and angle of attack ratios as they relate to dynamic and static stability and lift drag ratios at varius velocities (compensated for relative air density at altitudes) wing loading calculations turn ratios at varios wing loads weight and ballance calculations and how they affect the center of gravity and how altering the cg affects stability not to mention laminar airflow over airfoil surfaces and how control surfaces disturm laminar airflow increase drag and turbulance and thats not even a completre list of all the things id have to explain to someone who cant figure out a candle theres also the dihedral effects on stability (negative stability nutral or possitive (possitive being best for this applicatuion, negative beuing best for say fighters and aerobatics) and thats still nowhere near all that goes into designing then to understand the actual operation you need to understand meteorology completely including how temp and miosture levels afect thermal production lift strength and cloudbase (as well as thermal inversion layers) atmospheric stability (a candle will cause a tiny weak thermal in unstable atmosphere, but no use in explaining that to someone who doesnt believe candles burn) you also need to know how ridge front and shore klift is formed as well as mountsin waves (that arte like riding an elevator taking an unpowered glideert up to where you need a space suite to keep your blood from bioling (oh yea you also need to9 understand atmosheric density and its effects on the human body) you also have to constantly calculate distance to suitable landing locations versus current altitude versus best glide ratio (lift over drag at a given velocity) modified to compensate for relative wind speed and direction (not to mention how that affects the track over ground coyurse calculations) you also need to calculate on the fly the speed to fly through sink based on lift expected in the next thermal best bank angle to use when thermaling to stay in the core of the thermal ofcousres you also nered complete knowledge of the far's and ifr rules and airspace designatioins and everything you need to know to safely use varius airspacers (like contavcting the tower in toweerr controlled airspasces around major airports) as well as what manuvers aree allowed in controlled and uncontrolled space (aorobatics is not alowed uin controlled space) you also need to understand how rain or ice or a bug on the wing degrades fliught performance anbd how flying from a low to9 high or high to low pressure zone affects actual altitude versus indicated altitude ya knbow i havent even touchesd on 1/100'th of what id have to explain to make ya understand how it works (and i have not explained 1 thing here onlyt made a short list of a few of the many things id have toi explain to som, eone who cant figure oiut a candle)
the name literaly came from soaring with eagles its amaziung they will soar right off your wingtip looking you straight in the eye then if they get spooked they fold theyre wings and spiral dive thats so graceful but powerful i once got in a thermal with an ewx luftwafe gliderr pilot (he then went on to train the entire libian airforce in glidsers then jets) and my instructor says holdon let me have thew controls i wanna show u something and he dives down behing the ex luftwafew pilot like he was in a dogfight getting him in our sights...the guy vannished in an instant.. we sirclesd and searched but he was nowhere to be found..because he was right in our 6 the only place we couldnt see him...and stayed therre till we landed (srry just thought biout that cause when the eagles would dive we tried following them, but even though we could fly much faster (over 155mph) they were just too manueverable to chase (we had a 57 foot winghspan so roll rates are slow) thats the actual one i learned in (1 of 3 we flew)
My friends continue to pester me about my smoke consumption, yet quite a few of them enjoy speeding and drift racing in their cars, and drinking alcohol to excess, it puzzles me considering i dont smoke much at all, and theyve got a huge chance of killing themselves while street racing, and drinking bottle upon bottle of whisky and vodka
I agree we do all each choose our poisons.. Eventually there is a flaw in the system we choose to have in each of our daily routine lived lives. Whether it's by choice or lack of $$, addiction or what ever excuse we come up with that helps us sleep better at night. FTR: I am not a smoker, except for spiritual purpose around a sacred fire, but I do not always buy organic as we don't always have the money. I love water- so I drink it from where ever all day long and can bet I have had the chlorine and flouride quite regularly. I still believe it to be better to drink than soda. LOL
I used to have a pair of buddies that were all 'SLS cancerous and evil and anti-dreads' that both smoked. It often boggled my brain. Don't expose this symbol atop my head with cancerous babylon yadda yadda but light me up another corporate death stick.
I got hooked on smokes when I was young, stupid and didn't care about my health and future. As I educated myself about living a healthier lifestyle, I cut out things like coffee/caffiene, SLS, pesticides, chemical house cleaners, meat, etc. but the very last bad habit to go was cigarettes. Just because I was battling one of my last demons doesn't mean that I was any less serious/dedicated to living a healthier life than am I now that I have quit smoking cigs.
