That was the general idea from many I spoke to. It was rumored Plunker wanted Montana (duh...he lives there) Some were pushing for Washington St. but scouts have concluded there are no viable sites.

Forget W.Va. it's too soon to return...10 year "rule" North Carolina is out of the question no matter what Katuah thinks. JMHO... Vermont would be nice but according to some scouts the old '91 site cannot be used as much of it is now "wilderness designated". Pa. is a good choice but I still carry bad memories of mud and lice.
Tenn....Ky...N.H....hmmm. Have to look real close at those.

If this is so we can count out our "we're West Coast and are superior to you "back easters" Rainbows. Think I'm kidding?

Looking foreward to a lower elevation gathering where us olders can breathe and get around!!!!

i guess one could read all that superior talk into the council's outcome if one is looking for it but i read it to be more of a simple outcome to what gets done every year at VC. just because jim morrison dropped a 'the west is the best' line does not make it so...but coming from a transplanted desert rat i for one would have to agree. superior...? only if one believes one is inferior. i prefer 'west of the rockies' because there is much more space to chose from and is probably better prepared for a mass gather nowadays. but i shall go wherever i am sent. where else can one visit yellowstone, zion, grand canyon, glacier, tombstone, carlsbad, etc etc etc on the way home? and the hot springs scattered around the west are pretty damn fine!

Go and talk to some West Coast focalizers...you may agree with my assertation.

Me feeling inferior??? ROFLMFAO!!! I'm going by first hand word. Seriously.

The missus lived in Tuscon and Prescott for over 26 yrs. I've lived in Phoenix, Prescott, S. Cal and Utah. We're no strangers to the west.

Vermont is a strong possibility. Texas falls may not be, but there are other sites worth looking at. After the growing season, we'll have some time to do some scouting. There was some NH scouting done already, but no viable site yet.

I wasn't there as I had obligations to take care of in Michigan... but I've never heard of so many possible states coming out for one vision council... isn't it usually 3?

love you family... it was really difficult for me to not be in New Mexico this year, I pray I'll see you next year....

i was in Vision Council . one site in Washington had been recently scouted and was well-presented . passion though , was for the north/mid-East . the elder scouts were present and were both hard-ass and encouraging toward those who would scout the east region for 2010 . council lasted two days in the blazing sun . ho , spirit !

im really hoping vermont 91 was the best gathering ofany ive bneen to
nc was my 1st, and yea there were some real serius reasons to fear going back butr despite that it was one of thye 2 i hjoped for next year (cvermont and nc) wv yea too soon tenn nh id support those as well

ive hoped for vermont ever since cali no utah and im not saying this jusat as an eastern rainbow because in 2 weeks i'll be a midwestern rainbow having yet again to travel 2000 miles to get home...east coastr is in desoperate need of more gatherings
ill also sagree im looking forward to being able to breath and not freeze at night so a gathering below 7000 would be awesome

even though ill be in the midwest from now ion id really suporet the next 3 beingf eastward just to start to even things out again

pa my home stare up untill the move in 2 weeksghas always been very rainbow freindly fs rewps evenj taking rainbow names and participating in councils every step of the way, offering anopen invfite to rtreturn anytime

pa the last 1 had a few minor disap;ointments but was a decent gastyhering with very few problems (i was there from council to pretty close to last day of cleanup)
i think pa would be an excelenbt choice but id almost say its too soon (others from here wioll probly disagree) i know my local family will love to host it and help make it happen

ive wandered all over that forrest too and know there are a few suitible sites (well i didnt investigate the springs im only takking about size/mewadows/parking areas)

id really supprt any of thosde areas vission council suggested
but i think the best choice is vermont, possibly pa second

I'm in total agreement about Vt. SE!!! N.C. would be an easy travel for us (we live in N.C.) but if I remember correctly the N.C. Legislature passed a law that would make another gathering there almost impossible. AND as a resident of the state, it's well known the N.C. State Police are corrupt and quite nasty. We don't need FS leo's AND state police up our ass. JMHO

And I get tons of shit when I speak of "West Coast superiority and exclusivity"
Plunker is pushing for Montana again and will present his "vision" at another VC.
Some have told me there are "No good places to gather back east" Others refuse to gather anywhere "East of the Mississippi" (both Carla and Connie on AGR objected to my saying these things)
I still stand by my statements. These things I've heard first hand!!!

    Let the fur fly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOL!

I spent the last few years living in Vermont, it's definitely laid back. We've had NERF gatherings on hippie hill in Granville.......couple thousand but i don't think that particular site is adequate for a national. I'm not familiar with the last VT national site, but i would definitely think their are plenty of beautiful spots, and i know for a fact the usfs presence in vt is pretty laid back and cooperative from past experiences. They are permit pushers though..........i'm not going to get into my personal feelings but somebody always ends up signing a permit. Ironically now i'm in Western NC, (somehow caught that ashevillain mentality) I think it's beautiful, I think their are many many beautiful people here and I have seen quite a few places that would be suitable sites, but the LEO's down here scare me............these guys are definitely corrupt and all about holdin' up that bible belt value system, it's a paradoxical place of sorts. Who knows though........maybe i'm just livin in fear. Either way I'm ecstatic that things are looking east, I haven't been able to get out west for the past couple years, so i've missed all the west coast nationals since Utah. Ironically enough though now I have the ability to go out west again and plan to at some point. I know whatever happens it will be beautiful..............positive vibration will manifest that.

LOL!!! Even though we live on the coast the "Ashevillian Mentality" has caught us, too. On the way back from N.M. we rerouted off I-40 just to get a pizza at the Mellow Mushroom.
