Sometimes I find it odd...

...how people who get so hyper over what they put on themselves don't seem to have a problem about filling their lungs with smoke. (Yes yes I know we walk around breathing in all sorts of pollutants and blah blah. I wonder what's more likely: head combustion of someone using a dab of wax, for example, or having some kind of fatal traffic-related accident etc, regardless of hippiness or whatever. Blah)

I find it silly hippies preach about saving the environment yet they all want to drive gas gussling school buses

 

Umm the buses are actually powered by the energy coming from their free spirit

And all the fuss about things like, a tiny ingredient in a shampoo that you rinse off maybe causing cancer, followed by threads full of boasts about all the smoke consumption. It puzzles the amybird brain.

I've been running lately on the trails near my house.

Feels amazing but I get so overheated in this weather that I seriously get goosebumps and sneeze after.

 

i dont smoke and my bus will be run on waste veggie oil which causes verry lil polution

as soon as hemp is legalized so hemp oil fuel is viable it will be run on that so thye polution will be almost zero (the growing of the hemp can remove all the carbon from the air produced by combustion of the oil)
the longer term plan (if were able to work it out) would be to convert to high horsepower electrric motors powered by a combo of solar pannels (40 foot by 8 foot is a fair size for collecting solar, enough to power most houses) and a hemp/veggie oil backup generator

at least 80% of the rainbow bus fleetr are run off waste veggie oil now theres even 1 with a fold out wind generator
and in cali there was a solar/human powered bike treain kitchen, a trike with 3 trailers youd pedal to 10 mph then solar would take it to 45 mph cruise speed , the 3 trailers carried a full kitchen including 2 huge solar ovens it made a 2000 mile trip and climbed the mountain

you can be an asshole all ya want and try to make ppl look bad, but the truth is hippies and especuialy rainbows are working towards solutions creatively every day

SE, if you can get bus to run off electricity generated solely from PV panels I will give away everything I own.

Also smoking is the only thing that keeps me from pulling a falling down when I have to crawl back from work in the rush with all the workshy pricks who earn far more than me for sitting on their arses.

 

Yeh. I don't really care that people smoke or whatever else they do to themselves. Just in those occasional all-natural preachy moments about something being put on (and washed off) hair, I always find myself trying to weigh it up against smoke going into lungs, and frown lol

 

i doubt i could get a bus to run solely off solsar pannels with the current tech, however if lil more funding went into developmewnt we are extremely close to multiplying the power generated per inch by 7 or more
the theories are sound and prototypes have beencreated just theres not enough funding goinginto development to make it cost effective

right now solar panels catch 1 frequency of light the rest bounce off or pass through a new technology uses layered panels thatr catch a frequencyt allowing the others to passs through to9 be caught be the next layer thereby catching every spectrum and convdrting it to power


theres also a way to use (i maybe lil off on thertech details here) high frequency raqdio waves to burn salt water fuelo at 1500 degrees, the only6 emissions being oxygen i think
it was accidently discovered by a guy trying to cure cancer using a homemade frequency generator to superheat silver and gold particles ingected into the bloodstrweamthat would seek oiut and bind to tumors the radio waves then heateds up these metals and burned away the tumors without harmning other cells

he had no interest in developinmg the fuel possibilities only in invessti8gating the cancer treatment possibilities (trying to cure his wife i believe) so offgered to give the patent rights away to any company willing to develop the tecxh
being that it burned, not exploded like gas he thought it would be useed most likely to create steam power


all the techs we need to be energy self sufficient and sustainablew are within easy reach if we just shifted funding alittle

when bush made his lil green enhergy initiative he still put almost all the fiunding int5o developing more oil weklls and only a token tiny percentage into green energy to make it seem like he was trying...



with a real push for sustainability we could acheive it in 5 years easy
we alreadyt have cars comming out that are total electric that perform as well as high end sports cars like feraris
the thing is shortsightedness and unwillingness to cooperate means 1 car uses breaking rechargers to recapture power lost during accelerationand another uses another tech but theres noone out there combinning all the useful advances into 1 car that does it all
hell even trhe electric cars we have now depend on fossil fuels to recharge, not 1 has a solar collecter that at least can add a lil sustainable trickle recharge
if 1 vehicle combined all the advances ofd the past 5 years wed be beyond the 100mpg point now


but the nature of corporations is compatition not cooperation so they make it ilegal to combine technologies developped by rival companies into 1 fully functuioning vehicle

so thast leaves it up to a bunch of ragtag hippies to peice together theyre own makeshift versions

simple advances in how we use energy like thios cajn make all the difference its nhot always about how to get the most energy out of a power source but how to use the minumum amount of energy to gain the greattest reward

And I don't claim to be an environmentalist. I drive a normal car that gets very good mileage. Cheap little thing but it's all I can afford for now. I have student debt and can't afford a new vehicle right now. But when I do, I will bring it over to your place and let you convert it to a vegetable oil car for me

the most viable way would be and electric powered vehicle that you charge via wind, or better yet, water generated energy. Photovoltaic cells are very inefficient, but there are better solar generators in existence that are being tested now, specifically, a mirrored dish that focuses on a sterling engine.

Personally, I can't wait to see the world move away from combustion engines.
Electric engines can be converted to run on any type of fuel... hell, even and electric engine powered by a gas generator is more efficient and uses less fuel than a combustion engine setup. With combustion, the majority of the energy is lost through heat (think how much heat the engine of a car puts off while its running... even standing near and open hood, you're overwhelmed by it.
