    Shittiest night ever.
My ex and I were on our way from north Jersey to NYC to hit up a rave party at COSM (alex gray's chapel of sacred mirrors... used to be located in downtown Manhattan but they closed in April, new chapel to open upstate in the fall !! )
Paterson, NJ happened to be right on the way.. and for those of you who don't know.. its the hot spot for heroin&crack. I happen to love indulging in the H and we stopped to pick some up from a dealer I knew in the area.
We leave Paterson, no worries. As we continue to drive and get onto rt. 4 which brings you directly over the George Washington Bridge I hear those terrible, terrible words, "Were getting pulled over".
These cops had no mercy. The followed to the highway from Paterson after seeing the NY license plates. Being that we were driving a Audi s4, not only did we look suspicious in the ghetto at 1am we were also speeding. They ripped apart the car and my pocketbook, finding all sorts of fun things. 8 bags of heroin, 20 e pills, a couple of grams of weed, 2 bowls and 5 needles (one had no cap on it and poked one of the officers! I was laughing so hard on the inside.. she bugged out :p)
They (state troopers by the way) call for back-up and arrested us on the spot. We were brought back to the station were they stripped searched me and then handcuffed me to the wall of a holding cell for several hours. They let my ex go first then an hour later let me go with about 6 different tickets. I was completely stranded, no car (impound lot) no ex (disappeared) thank god I had some money to hop on the train I found a couple miles away.

This was just the start of a big mess. It was my first drug offense as an adult (I was 19yrs old) and I was put on probation which I fucked up one to many times. I narrowly escaped going to jail for 6 months by entering a detox, then rehab, then halfway house. The charges were finally dropped several months ago... and I could finally smoke fucking green again! Best thing ever. Its fucked up when you can get away with doing speed and dope but can't even smoke a fucking blunt. Damn drug tests.

Moral of this story? Stay out of Jersey! Haha.. specially if your a 19 yr old blonde chick who would stick out like a sore thumb in Bergen county jail :p

uhhhh.....I don't think that the moral is "stay out of Jersey", I think it's more like "don't roll with needles (especially uncapped), heroin, and a fist full of E".

The weed wouldn't have been a big deal if it wasn't for the other stuff. Not that funny that the cop got poked either. She was just doing her job and you unnecessarily endangered her.

I hope you learned your lesson, but I seriously doubt it.

I'm no expert on New Jersey law, but in almost every state weed is a misdemeanor and heroin is a felony. Therefore, relative to each other, weed = no big deal; heroin = huge deal

No one said your needles, or you yourself, were dirty. It's just if you get poked by a random needle you're gonna flip shit cause you don't know who used it or what thy had. How is the cop supposed to know you didn't have AIDS? Or Hep? Any of that nasty shit

They're not. I guess that's what made it funny. (I personally did not find it funny though, but it's not like I'm going to write a get well card either)

Maybe the cops should have been more careful. If they're looking for DRUGS (<-- this is where the whole part about "be careful when looking for needles" thing comes in) then maybe they could have avoided being stuck by a needle if they had used a tiny bit of caution... Especially if they found the other needles first.

I don't like how cops can just rip apart your car. That's bullshit imo, and if they decide to do a search over a speeding ticket, then they deserve to get stuck with a (clean) needle, and worry if it had aids or not. Reasonable suspicion is not grounds for a search of your home, but for some reason it's more than enough if you happen to be in a car...

Did they grill you about info on where you got the dope? Try and flip you... I had a simiilar situation many yrs back.
Cops saw a young white guy in a black neighborhood and figured something was up.
Dealers are careful and have look outs, and I noticed the cops drive past about 10 minutes before I grabbed a few bags.
Next thing I know Im being coraled like I just robbed a bank.
With all the dealers and crackheads on every corner, they singled me out.
I was arrested and taken to the station where I was pressured to give up a dealer. I could not, even if I wanted to,(which I would never do-dont do the crime if you cant do the time)..
Eventually they charged me with felony possesion and some motor vehicle charges..
On the way out, I asked one officer, why me.... There are obviously way more dangerous ppl in plain sight of where I was arrested doing way worse things....
His reply: This is how we do it, bust a small time user , practicly ruin his life and endanger his life by locking him up with hardened criminals, all in a desperate hope that he will rat out someone who is actually dealing.....
    The whole system is fucked.
Ive been clean for yrs after being prescribed medication for my reasons for wanting to do drugs like dope in the first place. It isnt a crime if there is no victim. It is a medical issue and should be dealt with by doctors, not cops....
In the meantime , the gov't gets rich by charging huge fines and court costs rather than just legalizing everything and taxing it.

I see the same kind of cop behavior on "cops" the tv show. Methinks they don't actually want to bust the ghetto dealers but they want to bust the richer white kids since they bring new money into their county or city. The ghetto dealers are the lure that bring the money to that city, so they don't want to bust them, just the ppl passing through. Maybe this is only a part of the picture but it seems pretty clear to me. They know who the dealers are, they see the transaction for shit's sake, yet they go after the out-of-town buyer.

It's so obvious and yet the cops try to seem like they care about you and give you moral counseling. I really hate that part, it's not even part of their job description. I just wish they'd be honest and say that you're easy prey for some new outside dollars.

Yeah, they were trying to get me to tell them who and where I got it from, and they tried to get me to set someone up. I am no rat and I take responsibility for my own damn actions, so I didn't tell them anything. Cops are pigs that try to manipulate and scare you. Saying if you set someone up you'll get in less trouble,, it's all b.s.
&I agree with you on the 'drugs is a medical issue' perspective. It just really makes the most sense. Most drug users are recreational users, not criminals!

Jersey cops do suck... but it's your fault for speeding with all of that shit in your car.

Why did you need to have all of that H and 20 E pills? Just seems a bit excessive to me.

The cops in that area (Bergen County) are spectacularly rigid from what I've gather, especially near the more upper-class sections. Sorry you got busted.
