I have a question for everyone.

So the ends of my hair are white, then my dirtly blonde roots have grown out as you can see in my pics. At the line right between the two colors, basically where the undreaded hair stops and the dreaded hair starts, I have this thin line of grey that you can only see if you look closely. I use residue free shampoo and have never used wax. Tried ACV and it didn't do anything to it. I'm wondering if its dead skin cells that have gotten trapped. Whatever it is, it doesn't have any feel to it, doesn't smell, and isn't anywhere else but right there at the border between loose and dreaded hair, but it won't come out for anything.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this problem or can offer any advice.

And if you need, I'll post a pic of one when I get home from work today.

Mmmhm... I've heard a few stories like this
I believe you may have suffered from Oldbastardivitus syndrome

basically at some point for the bast few months you acted like an old bastard. The side affects of your old bastardness is your hair grew grey for a short period of time. Once you came to your senses and turned back to Mr.Anime your hair continued growing normally.

Your hair is like a timeline you see.

I may need pictures to give a final diagnosis

I'd say dead skin cells I get the exact same but on one spot on my arm. It always looks greyish like mud. I exfoliate and it disapears for a while then reappears. Not much you can do apart from exfoliate.

don't know how I'd exfoliate my scalp, but I am starting the think more and more that its dead skin.. its just odd that its just at the one spot on each dread. Wish I could get it out though.
I'm wondering if it'll bleach out when I bleach my roots again. Its not bothering me being in there as much as its bothering me to see it.

Oh and <insert assholish comment here about you having dreads on your arm> ;)

I already knew you were an asshole anyway (JK!) I'd imagine it would bleach out, bleaching got rid of all the wax in my hair so if it gets out wax then... I guarantee no one else will be able to see it. :)

that makes me feel a little better. I'm not too worried about it now... my main worry is, a few months down the road, when I decide to bleach the roots again, if I'll have a random greyish line in the middle of my dreads. Right now I don't really care since my natural hair is kind of an ash blonde, it blends with it, which is why I didn't even notice it until now.

I guess I'll just see what happens down the road, but thanks for easing my mind a bit. =)

I have a lint tide mark on my dreads, I think it's probably from my jacket.

my vote is that it's a)something to do with the dye b) dead skin c)lint

definitely not the dye and If its lint, it seems odd that it'd be just at a certain location on each dreads instead of all over. I think the dead skin theory might be it. Thanks for everyone's responses.
