my fish keep getting sucked up the through the filter of my fish tank!! I went ot the pet store and the lady working told me to shove a piece of sponge up the tube, she said water will still be able to go through and it'll stop my fish fromgetting in there. So i tried it, and with the sponge, no water would go up, it plugged it, so i took the sponge out....went to bed, got up this morning and i was missing a fish.....my little neon tetra was up the tube....had to flush another fish! I had to flush 2 fruit loop tetra awhile ago....i have 4 fish in my tank now, 3 of them are too big to be sucked up, but i still have one more neon tetra, obviously the sponge doens't work....anyone have any ideas????
Are you talking about an actual filter, or a powerhead? The fish shouldn't be getting sucked up unless they are dying in the first place. Even the smallest fish (except maybe babies) are strong ehough to outswim the current. Most fish stores let you test your water for free, maybe you have an ammnia or nitrite problem that is killing the fish. I would have it tested. How long have you had the tank set up? What size is it?
My husband had a similar problem with his fish tank. So, we took a piece of nylon netting and put it over the end of the tube and attached it with a rubber band. Problem solved!
i'll try that....but my fish are ok, i have 3 others, as healthy as can be, i use all the good stuff, water conditionaer and what not....my other fish like i said are fine, and they're too big to be sucked up, but i'll try the nylon. thanks
