    Hi peeps,

Been a lurker for a while but thought I'd register up to post about this really strange dream I had lastnight... I've never had a dream quite like it that was so vivid and that I could remember the tiniest detail, I've felt really strange ever since and haven't been able to concentrate...

It started on the beach in some far eastern country, there was an amazing skyline with lots of tall lit buildings, was talking to a load of local people about crime (for some reason) and what the area was like... they were telling me to beware as lots of strange things were going on and nobody knew what was happening to the place. Although I wasn't sure where I was, it seemed like I was meant to be there...

I walked up the beach and ended up following an estuary which turned into a brick lined river (a bit like a canal) and it led me into a densely populated city. The water in the river/canal was vididly and almost eerily clear. I could see lots of wrapped up bodies stuck to the side of the river wall just below the surface of the water, kind of like they were bound or cocooned.

I got speaking to some more local people who seemed oblivious to the bodies in the water, when I asked them about it, they said not to ask or they would be struck down. Then I was talking to a load of people outside some glass windows which reminded me of the windows in the red light district in Amsterdam. Everyone seemed to be queueing to see one particular lady for some reason. I wasn't in the queue but this beautiful lady came out and singled me out and told me to come in and winked at me, I felt like I should go inside for some reason.

When I walked in from the hustle and bustle, everything became quiet when she shut the door. She sat me down and explained that she wasn't really a prostitute but that she just made her customers become unconscious then inserted memories of an encounter with her while she looked through their belongings for clues. She told me that I didn't belong in this place and that for my own safety I should leave town immediately before something happened to me. She gave me a card (I can't recall what was on it) and said that I should go and meet someone at a nightclub in town then I should go... she wouldn't tell me what for. She was very vague about it but for some reason I knew what she was talking about and went to the club.

Out of the blue two of my best friends were with me, we seemed to be on some kind of mission although I don't know what. For some reason we all suddenly felt uneasy and the lights came on in the club. My one friend said to get out of here and we started to walk towards the door and this girl I recognised from somewhere came up to me and said could I spare a minute for a hug as she was upset... She whispered something in my ear that I couldn't make out. As soon as she did all eyes were on me, security shutters came down and I was trapped inside.

Suddenly there was a loud crash and I turned around and a Gold Vauxhall Chevette (car) had crashed through the shutters and there was several asian looking chaps in there shouting at me to get in. For some reason I trusted them and ran to the car and got in. Once we had escaped they told me that I was being hunted because there was something special about me, they didn't know what it was but they didn't want'them' to find out. On the journey to wherever we were going I suddenly woke up without finding out what happened... don't know what happened to my friends either, they left the dream as quick as they entered it.

I've never ever had a dream this vivid or detailed, nor could I remember it after more then a few minutes. I had this dream lastnight and I can still remember it like it really happened and I can picture every single detail and what was said to me. It's left me feeling very strange and I don't know why... I wouldn't normally bang out such a huge first post on a forum, but I'm desperate to try and understand this dream...

If anyone reads this (who hasn't fallen asleep reading it lol) and understands any of it then please let me know. Thanks for reading.... and glad to have finally registered on here ;)

    Thanks

    James

Re-reading this it really sounds like I've padded it out.... I promise I haven't, I can genuinely remember all that.

the part about the bodies seems to me like maybe you're brain is trying to get you to confront something that you don't want to have to actually think about and deal with. the clarity of the river might suggest that the blockades between you and this thought are not very strong and are maybe more conscious than you would like to admit.

the vividness of your dream could be caused by several things. i'm not sure how familiar you are with the sleep cycle, but most of your dreaming occurs while in REM sleep, although sometimes you can dream in nonREM sleep as well, usually in nREM cycle 4. When this happens dreams can seem especially vivid because different chemicals are firing off in your brain than when you are in REM, which is technically the dream sleep state. in other words, you're dreaming not in dream state so a certain degree of reality comes with the dream.

definitely didn't fall asleep. sounds like it would make a great anime.

i've had dreams a little like that too. not those specific details but that sort of lots of things happening, emotions, compulsions, senses of mystery and mysterious powers.

i LIKE to have interesting dreams. and usually prefer NOT to link "meanings" to them.
to me, they are events that take place in an alternative universe, just as real when i'm in it, as this one when i'm not.
