Take a gander at these two deep thinkers, can you imagine them teaching there brand of science to generations of young children? Kinda makes me feel dizzy and sick... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kF3L359yKjs
I saw Richard Dawkins use this video to descry the ridiculousness of religious opposition to science in person. I consider it among the most wonderful events of my life.
Ummm, how is this any different than scientists trying to explain the Origin of the Species, or any other Laws of the Universe? To me, science is man's way of trying to decipher God's handiwork ~ two means of discernment, one common goal. In fact, the way he was making the facts fit his theory made me think that the vid was done tongue-in-cheek...
You are joking right? There is an immeasurable world of difference between scientists trying to understand why the universe exists as it is and others claiming that god did everything. If you can't comprehend the difference, then I don't even know if it's worth explaining.
Wow. If you had taken a couple of seconds to think about what i said, with an open mind, you'd see that it's true. Science IS man's attempt to explain Nature (God's creation), as is religion.
Here is more christian fascist handi work at play in public schools, this time it is over Ray Bradbury's novel "Fahrenheit 451". Whats the beef these idiots have against it you might ask? Well a brief synopsis of the book is that in the near future a fascist state will take over parts of the world and regulate thought by banning and burning books they see as unfit for the public at large to read, among many books the bible is burned. Also they mention the use of what they consider to be obscene language. In protest of it christian families are attempting to force the school board to change it's curriculum. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUq2d2OFRkk This just pissed me off a bit and decided to get your peoples take on it.
Yes of course science is man's attempt to explain creation. Religion was a primitive attempt to do so. But, regardless of one's feelings about spirituality and such personal experiences, when modern religion claims to explain the phenomenology of creation and flatly contradicts science, then religion needs to back off of its superstitious heritage and accept its place in trying understand man's spiritual/moral/ethical place in the universe. Sorry if that offends, but religion has little place trying to undermine scientific methodology and knowledge.
As a Christian, i'd have to say those folks are off on a tear... We are to be IN the world ~ subjected to everything ~ but not OF this world ~ knowing that we live under a different set of laws and rules/regulations, and will go to a better place. To me that means that we SHOULD experience even the "bad" things, in order to make an informed decision regarding how we chose to act. When y'all think that Chrisitans all act holier than thou? Just remember what Jesus said ~ He came for the sinners, NOT for the righteous...
And i'm not trying to be a smart-aleck, here, but, links? More and more, the truths of the Bible are being proven, by science. We are SUPPOSED to drink ~ in the Bible, we're told that it will relax us, help us to sleep, mellow us out. Guess what? Science has finally figured out that a couple of glasses of wine, EVERY DAY, is something absolutely wEnderful for our bodies and minds. There are other examples, and if you ask, i'll try to research 'em up, but you could Google it just as easily as i could... (Talk about passing the buck! You're going to be so busy researching for your own links, and for mine, that i probably won't have to worry about getting my stuff together anytime in the near future! DAMN, i'm funny when i'm stoned to the bone!!!) :sifone:
Backwards as usual. Obviously, man (monkeys) evolved to be the perfect banana eater. Seriously, the banana in the video is a cultivated banana. The result of man manipulating the genetics of the species. For starters they are seedless and much larger than primitive bananas that may have originally been grown for the root, not the fruit.
