    Hey all,
i live in chicago, well actually like 20 miles away, but i was wondering if anyone had any input on schools in the midwest area. i was looking at UIC(u of illinois chicago), and think i want to go there. any input from anyone else would help though!! im not really a big fan of the state of wisconsin, but i guess i could make an exception for U of wisconsin madison, but please tell me ANY experiences u have at any schools, even if u just visited!!

    thanks a bunch

I dont know about illinois or wisc. but I go to Ohio University at Athens and I love it! It isnt the most highly rated university overall, but certain schools like the film school and journalism (which Im in) are in the top ten school sin America in their categories. The town is small and nice, if you can ignore the drunken freshmen, it does have an interesting alternative scene if you can find it.

What are you interested in? Are you looking for a large research university or a small liberal arts college?

I attend Truman State University in Missouri. It's the "harvard of the working-class" or something. I like it. The professors are all so nice, it's a tiny campus, and the town is definitely a college town. Everyone is really nice and helpful. I don't think I've come across any problems here that were not of my own creation.

If you want a good Liberal Arts University, and have the grades and the bucks, Loyola University in Chicago is a GREAT college. It isn't cheap, or easy to get into though. What major are you interested in? Loyola has one of the highest percentage of grads who apply for medical schools accepted.

If you are looking in the Tech field, though, you are better off with NIU (Northern.) Loyola has basically nothing techinical, outside of Chemical Engineering.

oh, and northwestern might be worth looking into, too.

there's some website... like the princetonreview.com or something, and they have you answer lots and lots of questions.. then give you results based on your preferences. they have catagories for everything from the student body to campus food. that might help. ill keep an eye out for the website

Have you checked out Roosevelt University? I'm also thinking about majoring in Environmental Science and have been seriously considering them. UIC would be my other choice. I'm assuming you live in the burbs? I live in the SW burbs, btw.

I am currently a sophmore at the university of Illinois. It is a pretty good school if you like large class sizes and lectures. I really like it here. They bring some pretty good speakers sometimes. I am not really sure how the environmental science program is here. A friend of mine is a natural resources major and I guess it is like a five year program.

Well I knoe a couple colleges in the North Dakota area, the only one good for an enviromental feild would be fargo, especially if your into horticulture, and there tuition aint to bad. Minneapolis university has the best programs, I was thinking of goin there for enviromental horticulture but tuition is a bzatch so I decided to go with a horticulture program in fargo. Check it out at www.ndsu.edu
