I was reading this article in 'National Geographics Adventure' and the guy was talking about how he had went on a three day hunger fast and it had really done a lot for him. So I've been considering trying one. My friend [who knows a lot about health stuff] told me that it'll mess up my metabolism and just replace my muscle with fat though, so I'm kinda thinking otherwise now. Anybody here know anything about it? Oh. As for body stuff. I'm 16. Weigh 150 pounds. Pretty lean; not a lot of fat, though I don't have a ton of muscle either. Moderately active. I do a lot of biking. And also a lot of swimming throughout summer. Mainly vegetarian diet, so I don't get much protein. Don't take any vitamins right now. Uhhh. Anything else you need to know?
I fasted, for 5 days straight, then waited a weak and fasted for three. It has done wonders for me. Especially because it changed my tastebuds and sense of smell. It actually makes you crave healthy foods...hahaha. I sit here laffing...but its not funny, health is fuking serious. I havent met one old person who hasnt told me to take care of my health...fuk that I am taking raping good care of my health then. I would really suggest it. I did the master cleanse. Look it up, it works wonders.
Yeah. Although honestly, I'm seriously doubting that I could make it that long without eating. Plus, I don't think my family would allow it. They'd freak out and think I was doing it for some cult or something...
Do a juice fast. Look it up. Maybe even get some vitamins to have during your fast. You'll really appreciate food and change your views on your diet and what is necessary and what isn't. If you're trying to keep it from your family, just spend some time out of the house and say that when you were at a friends house you had a lot to eat and you're too full to eat anymore, say that you ate before (when they weren't looking), or say that you have a stomach ache and want to just stick with water for a while, etc. If they insist on you eating, however, just suck it up and eat something because the importance of your fast is your health and well-being - not hurting your relationship with your parents. Good luck!
This may seem like a stupid question, but how does a fast work? Is it not eating at all 24 hours a day? Because I used to have a muslim friend in school, or what she a sikh... Anyway, she couldn't eat in daylight hours when she was fasting, and she would eat in the evenings. I go through phases of over eating an under eating, and I'm slightly over weight. At the moment I'm going through an under eating phase: I wouldn't recognise hunger and when I do feel it its sort of... I'd explain it as how an anorexic would describe their hunger, a feeling of control.. ANYWAY I'm just wondering how fasting works and considering doing one myself ^^
technically fasting is not good... your body will turn to muscle reserves for energy.. not fat.. meaning you will lose muscle mass and most of your fat will remain as is..
Juice fast is essentially a water fast that's tastier, easier, and healthier (more nutrients and vitamins). I would not recommend a water fast.
