We were married in a cabinet shop by the "minister" with two witnesses present. She was hugely pregnant and we were barefoot, dirty, dreadlocked southern Humboldt cabin hippies. It worked out great. Cost me $40 and a bud.

I'm getting married in Daniel's parents' yard, then having a potluck at the community center across the street. They live in a town so small, there's no cops, no streetlights, and only a post office, a couple of bait shops, and some houses. Everything is in walking distance, lol!

I despise ceremony, symbolism, and bourgeois gatherings.

We started to plan a wedding. looked at locations, dresses, music , food and the whole deal..
good god, that shit is stupid pricey and terribly stressful for me-especially if your "close friends and family" list is as big as ours and we just couldn't figure out how we could do it AND buy a house.

So , I borrowed my friends dress, we packed up the car and rode to Tennessee - had a weddingmoon- we filled out some paperwork , hubby rented a tux and this guy came to our cabin and said a few words.I even got to see real snow for the 1st time on our way back.
Had a nice vacation and we handed out videos of the little"ceremony" to our family when we got home.
Though, I do sometimes think it would be nice to get remarried with our family there.. I just can't justify the expense of most of that shit.

I hate the bridesmaids dress thing, when you all put them in those stupid purple or pink dreeses with the bows so they look ridiculous and the bride looks good next to them.

I wish you all wouldnt do that

I want something small but nice. it's about family, but not about family in a 400 guests way

I don't think a wedding should have more than 20 guests per side, and that's even stretching it (I can only think of 19 people I could imagine inviting, and I don't think they'd all show up)

    That is such petty bullshit.

bride already has a guy, lots of people meet spouses at weddings, let your bridesmaids have a shot!

that's what wearing something hot under them is for :p

just strip it off as soon as you finish with the ceremony.

We've kinda skipped the whole wedding thing so far. I have no burning desire to do it. We've been together for more than five years and have two kids. I cant see how getting married would change anything but our finances. Yes... I'm such a romantic. lol

We often talk about a Christmas time wedding when all of my fam (sisters and parents) are together (every second year) and just invite my in-laws as well. But in reality, I have no clue how it will all pan out.

I already call him hubby and the gov taxes us as such. again.. there is that romantic flair.

My ideal wedding? Few relatives, a ton of friends, an awesome band that doesn't mind playing into the wee hours. Lots of booze, drugs and debauchery.

One thing I'm positive of... my wedding dress will have wings. :)

we had deposits on teh minister and a beach and I had a beautiful italian silk wedding gown. We (me at first) decided fuck it and we got married in a chessy chapel in reno in flip flops. We lost our deposits and my wedding dress is still at the tailor's over a year later.

Not that I'll probably get married and still not legal here, but this is how I'd do it:

I'd have me and the groom just in fig leaves ala Adam and Steve.
I'd try get Alf from Home and Away to be the celebrant.
Bridesmaids and Groomsmen I'd mix them up and have the girls in pink bikinis and the guys just in purple boxers.
Hire a midget to be the flower girl, but he gets like thrown down the isle
Instead of the Wedding march I'd get them to play some Pantera
At the recpetion instead of centerpieces I'd have a Bong on each table

Which is probably why they dont allow Gay weddings in this country

For some reason- in some weird fem way- part of me would love to wear a ridiculously gawdy overpriced gown- like this

WTH is wrong with me?? is it fair to blame barbie for such irrational thoughts?

-I don't entirely desire to spend millions on a gathering with any sort of ceremony, or lots of tradition and bullshit though LOL
maybe one day we will just throw an anniversary party or something, and later go get pics done and I can wear an big gawdy dress

We spent some of the money we would have spent on the wedding on a shopping spree. I had no limit and got to hit up all of my favorite stores in San Fran. It's wonderful having a husband who takes you clothes shopping everyday during your honeymoon. I think he was also thankful I axed both the expensive elopement and the big wedding.

oho ohooh my whole point was, cashmere. I got 4 season cashmere that I wear once a week, I didn;t even wear my wedding gown once. Wish I bought my dress off the rack so i could exchange it (it was JCrew, so it would have been fun to spend that int eh store_
    ]I am so stoned
