Hey all sorry if anyone asked this before, I could not locate it, and if I am asking this question too soon sorry, but that is why I'm a member. My husband and I have our cards for Cannabis (OMMP)and also grow for ourselves so what I want to know is: we have a small batch that evidently did not get dry enough and has some mold on it, I cannot handle smoking it so we make 90% of ours into oil pills or tinctures. So will it hurt us to use this batch also? Maybe the tincture would be safer? Now that we ground up part of it in my grinder I am afraid that we will have to pitch that too. What do you think?? I saw many posts where it stated it was dangerous to smoke, and then some said not???? Help!!!

    Is the mold isolated?
If so, just remove it from whatever you're using for tinctures etc.

if not, just throw out the bud, I don't think it's worth the risk.

Mouldy bud can kill you if smoked; don't do it.
As for the oils and tinctures; I'd HIGHLY advise that you take the contaminated herb and make hash from it FIRST, using a water-based method. The beauty in this is that when you grind up the bud to extract the trichs, the mold will float on the top of the water. Allowing you to safely pour off the contaminants(mold) and then use the gathered trichomes as you see fit.

hmm. In my experience, it just tastes REALLY bad. i'd say just burn it off. I think the chances of it KILLING you are slim.

Actually, smoking moldy pot could poison you, and might kill someone who is sensitive to or allergic to the mold, which is a toxin.

If some of a bunch gets mold on it you have to throw away the lot because once it gets started it spreads quickly and it's not all visible. Don't mess with your health. Mold is no good for anybody.

no way will it kill you....in the 60s and early 70s when the best we ever got was thai or jamaican, we thought if we let it get moldy, it would somehow be better so we didnt try to prevent such...of course now we know better...anyhow, we smoked tons of moldy pot....

not a good idea....but as far as i know from personal experience of years and years.....:)it will not kill you.........geez......:)

    Discovery

    Main article: Discovery of penicillin
The discovery of penicillin is attributed to Scottish scientist and Nobel laureate Alexander Fleming in 1928. He showed that if Penicillium notatum was grown in the appropriate substrate, it would exude a substance with antibiotic properties, which he dubbed penicillin. This serendipitous observation began the modern era of antibiotic discovery. The development of penicillin for use as a medicine is attributed to the Australian Nobel laureate Howard Walter Florey together with the German Nobel laureate Ernst Chain and the English biochemist Norman Heatley.

I just bought some shitty moldy weed, smelled like haggis. Only smoked a small bit and threw the rest out. Ended up with a chest infection for 2 weeks!

My advice to you is just throw this shit out.

I dunno, back in the 60s people used to wet down their pot and put it in like a tin can and bury it so it would get moldy, they thought that made it better.

I never tried it myself, after I'd buy pot I smoked it up to fast to mess around trying to get moldy, but I never heard of anyone that died from smoking it with mold on it.

    Peace

You probably won't die, depending on what kind of mold it is and how bad the infection is. Chances are you'll just get a nasty lung infection from some kind of spore trying to germinate in your chest.

Personally, I would make a butane or IPA extract from it.
