Hi everyone hope you don't mind me posting but I need some advice. I graduate next month from a UK university. I have a lower second class honours degree in Social Policy and Health Sciences but I have no idea what kind of career my degree could give me. I've tried the websites my university offers for listed jobs but the only things that come up require relocating and I can't really do that with a husband.

I'm really frustrated. My uni and several articles I've read have said that social policy graduates have an exceptionally high employment rate but the fish aren't biting. I've tried jobs in the charity sector and housing but nothing comes up. Anyway if any social policy graduates are on here please give me some tips. Also tips on CV's are welcome too :)

12 or more years of schooling and no education of how to find a job or career.
the british "educational" system is, every bit as shitty as is the american "educational" system is, here in the u.s.a.

get a copy of the latest edition of the book: "what color is your parachute?" by, richard nelson bolles. that book will educated you in the critical life skill of how to go about finding work! also check out this website:

the job market is in the shitter right now due to the financial crisis. I would suggest working for the government, but that is advice coming from the US not the UK so im not sure if it is as valid there. all i know is that government funded jobs are the only people who got back to me this summer about jobs. I got employed by the us government with Americorps and plan on doing this for a while and then peacecorps.

does the UK have programs similar to americorps or peacecorps? they do not pay well but (at least in the us) you get health care........whooops you guys have health care anyway haha.

.. it sucks that most people graduating are having a problem finding a job - I would suggest you contact local banks and say you have a degree etc .. banks always have a job for graduates -

and hey .. welcome to the real world ... you didn't think your fantasy life of university fun and games was going to last forever did you?

don't make the mistake of thinking your shit doesn't smell ... and your "too good" for some jobs ... everyone has to start somewhere .. even with the almighty degree
