I'm trying to tell the difference between calcium chloride and perlite. I have both here, but they look similar. I've never used either for growing mushrooms or drying them at all, so this is my first time. Can anyone explain the difference?
That'll work even better than I had planned! I was just gonna put two screens up in each container (2 containers), throw a couple screens in and put the perlite and calcium chloride in the middle on the first screens, then put a wet paper towel on the top screen and see how much water builds up on the bottom of the container. But that works better! PS: Would it work if I put a cap on the beaker or keep it open? Just curious lol.
Well, I threw perlite and calcium chloride into separate beakers and poured water into both. I discovered that I had identified them wrong, so it's a good thing I did this test. (I thought the Perlite was Calcium Chloride, talk about a fatal mistake I could have made!)
