so something has been driving me nuts for a good while
for over a year, every pair of jeans I own develops a hole on the upper right (looking at them from behind) corner of the back left pocket. it's really annoying, I can't figure out what's causing it. It seems to start with a small seperation of the pocket from the actual jeans, and then it gets bigger, with a large hole in the pocket.
now, I don't buy very expensive jeans, but I do get reasonably stylish and well-fitting jeans, and any cost is too much for jeans that get a hole there! Patches look cool on your knees or whatever, but not so much on your ass!
any suggestions to how this is happening, and how I can fix it? denim is supposed to be rugged...

Hmm. Do you use that pocket a lot? Is it catching on something in your daily activities? You may be rubbing against something like a chair or table edge.

I would try reinforcing from the inside when the jeans are new. Try an iron-on patch with maybe some stitching for good measure.

You can fix the holes in the current jeans the same way, from the inside. Even use denim cut from a pair that's beyond fixing. Just use a thread colour that blends in with your shade and stitch the edges of the holes to the reinforcing piece.

Yeah all my jeans do that, too. I patch them with an old flannel shirt of my dad's. I machine stitch it in.

Or sometimes I just use a zig-zag stitch, closing the hole.

this has happened to me aswell, on atleast 4 jeans, because they were cheap crap denim from the inexpensive wal-mart type levi line of jeans... it would start a hole on the inner upper side of the back pockets. so i said screw this and went and bought better denim.

now i just buy the red tag line of levis. preferably bootcut. :) i havent had any holes develop yet on the backside, but my inside cafs tend to wear out easy cuz they rub each other.

u could also try out raw denim, now that stuff is tough, unwashed after the dying process, make ur own fades with time in the jeans... not that pre-distressed, buying holes, frayed, and faded crap. i suggest never using those fabric softeners on ur jeans! i always wash them inside out with warm water, and i never stick my jeans in the dryer, i always hang dry them.
