This is pretty scary stuff knowing how much this stuff is used in food service and the medical field. not to mention lotsa other people.

so could someone explain how disease carrying bacteria gets into a antibacterial hand sanitizer?

    FDA Consumer Alert:
Warning Consumers of a Tainted Skin Sanitizer [IMG]
Following an announcement by the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warning consumers of a tainted skin sanitizer, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is advising health care providers and consumers not to use skin products made by Clarcon Biological Chemistry Laboratory. Clarcon is voluntarily recalling some skin sanitizers and skin protectants marketed under several different brand names because of high levels of disease-causing bacteria  found in the product during a recent inspection.

Consumers and providers are being warned to not use any Clarcon products and to throw these products away in household refuse.

FDA analyses of several samples of Clarcon products revealed high levels of various bacteria, including some associated with unsanitary conditions. Some of these bacteria can cause opportunistic infections of the skin and underlying tissues. Such infections may need medical or surgical attention, and may result in permanent damage. Examples of products that should be discarded include:

    Citrushield Lotion

    Dermasentials DermaBarrier

Dermassentials by Clarcon Antimicrobial Hand Sanitizer

    Iron Fist Barrier Hand Treatment

    Skin Shield Restaurant

    Skin Shield Industrial

    Skin Shield Beauty Salon Lotion

    Total Skin Care Beauty

    Total Skin Care Work

The massive use of anti bact. soap and lotion is going to do nothing but make these viruses and bacteria stronger and deadlier.

That's why I bathe in raw sewage.

    Not really, but clsoe enough.

^^^Chaos is right. Our germ-phobic society has created germs that are resistant to common cleaners and anti-biotics.

Healthy humans have immune systems that prevent us from getting sick. There's no need to go overboard with the hand sani. Wash your hands before you cook/eat, after you use the bathroom and you should be fine. The only time I use hand sani is when I am sick. I use it after I blow my nose or cough and I'm not near a bathroom, out of consideration of others.

The thing that pisses me off about hand sani is that you'll often see it in bathrooms right next to a sink and soap dispenser. Just wash your f-ing hands.

these are products used in restaurants and things, you probably never seen them, I know I've seen at least two of them, just, generally.

so, I'd be worried about that.

It just never crossed my mind that there would actually be microbes and etc; in sanitizers. What about people that have kids and use it. Then they are touching their children with infectious shit anyway. WTF. this world is just getting worse and more far out

a tablespoon of bleach to a gallon of water will kill anything that any hand sanitizer will.
