Do you consider yourself an honest person?
Who do you think you lie to more, yourself or others?
When it comes to lies what do you consider to be good lies vs bad lies?
Is there such a thing as a good or bad lie?
Do you think it is easier or more acceptable to lie on the internet or to strangers than to your friends or family?

I only lie to my parents, and that's only to protect them from killing me.

Otherwise, my brutal honesty is probably my only weakness. I'm a great liar, but I've never seen the point of lying.

Pathological lying is considered a negative quality in society however lying to succeed is a good thing?

What is the difference between a pathological liar and someone who intellectually decides on lying in order to succeed in life?

I only lie when it would be ridiculously troublesome to accept the consequences of being honest.
Like a "does this dress make me look fat?" type situation.
Or when my grandma asked me if I've been smoking dope, cause I've been acting weird. I wasn't going to tell her that I have been since the beginning of 9th grade. She'd prolly keel.

When it's merely inconvenient to, I make sure to be honest. Any time I feel I can, I'm more honest than most.
But when I'm up against a wall, I can lie as good as any.

I don't consider myself any less honest for lying occasionally - I mean really, I just told you that I do it ;)

Do you consider yourself an honest person?
    Yes.

Who do you think you lie to more, yourself or others?
The same. If I lie to myself I'm probably going to tell that lie to other people.

When it comes to lies what do you consider to be good lies vs bad lies?
Bad lies: My mum died today (when she didn't), We're going to be together forever (when you know you're not), and I'm thinking about killing myself.
Good lies: No mum I've never smoked weed, You look fine, You can't even tell you've been crying, and I'll clean my room when I get home

Is there such a thing as a good or bad lie?
    Yes.

Do you think it is easier or more acceptable to lie on the internet or to strangers than to your friends or family?
More acceptable, yes. Probably easier as well.
Depends how much you invest in your internet relationships, I suppose.

I like surveys there should be more in RT :)

    1. It all depends on the situation. Im usually not brutally honest but Im pretty honest to people

    2. Probably myself

    3. probably like what duck said. I would tell a "white lie" so I wouldnt hurt someones feelings or let someone down

    4. Yes probably like number 3

    5. Hmm family and friends. Im a great liar when I want to be but I dont abuse it. I usually lie to just do what I want, of course it lowers the trust with my family but I dont really need it.

I try to be brutally honest.

Usually when asked a question, I don't see the point in lying anyway. But I will lie to protect peoples feelings. And sometimes for my own benefit.

I have lied to meet girls. Nothing major, usually just to find something in common for a second. "Ah, my phone service is out too."

But I can be honest about lying.

I'm always myself, I'm completely open to the people I care about, but out in the world I make small lies just to make things easier. For example I make false excuses for careless oversights at work when "being a human being who makes mistakes" is not a good enough excuse. That way I avoid being nagged or preached at, which isn't constructive. I'm quite capable of learning from my mistakes after being told once and forgiven.

The world (or society) is full of lies anyway and I don't feel I owe it my full honesty. I owe my full honesty to individual human beings about issues that really matter.

sometimes. but I try to keep myself away from lying, unless I feel that I have to protect myself about certain habits. but ill usually come clean when the time is right.

everyone lies, though. it's conditional from being not that far removed from apes. and people lie to themselves the most, i'm afraid.

[IMG] What carrier are you with?

Fitzy I do not think that that is hypocritical. I lie and I tell the truth. Hyphy like you I tell the truth even when I do lie. I never lie to myself, lying to oneself is the worst thing you can do. I lie to better myself, to get what I need and want out of life. Lying on the internet is too easy but I find no problem with lying in real life either. I work in sales and in bars and I would make no money if i told the truth all the time.

I could go into this more but I wouldn't want to tarnish my reputation
