    hey,
i want to start with a plain pair of cordura pants, and slit them at the seam down the leg just below the pocket to the bottom. then i was planning on stitching multi colored fabrics like squares into it, starting with a little like triangle, and at the bottom having like three square patches, so it like brances out any ideas or sites on this?
    anyone tried it?
    thanks

I did something close to that...I just used longer strips so they had vertical stripes...it's not very hard. I don't know of any sites that offer info, I just went for it and it worked pretty well.
Just make sure to very gradually get bigger...that's what I had the hardest time with.

Most people I know who make patchies, use squares to make a long strip. Then they sew this into the side of the pants. I cut the whole seam out all the way up to through the waist. Then I sew the strip of patchies in. I just fold the top over to make a new piece in the waistband. If you want the patchies to get wider, you can still sew the strip and then trim it into a triangle of sorts. I don't know if any of this makes sense.Do a web search on patchies and you'll find lots of examples.
