    Is it right?

    My example:

I was busted with 2 x pills, I'm being charged with possesion of firearms while on probation, possesion of illegal narcotics while on probation including the X pills and marijuana. I'm still waiting for my court papers but here in Ohio possesion of a schedual I drug is a fifth degree felony. I'm 17, in 8 months i'll be 18, because it is a felony and a 2nd offence what are my chances of being charged as an adult and possibly doing time in prison?

Also give your opinions on charging minors as adults for certain felonies including murder as well.

(Also, please no flaming, serious responses are encouraged.)

i have no idea what they will try to do to you. i'd be surprised if you don't serve any time for that though.

personally, i have no problem with charging teenagers as adults in most situations.

i can't reply to this thread without calling you a fucking idiot at least once.

I don't think you are that likely to be charged as an adult since there are more than 6 months left before you turn 18. But I can only judge based off the experiences of friends.

I don't really think minors should be charged as adults, ever, as really, mentally, they are not as capable of reasoning.
But I don't think adults are even charged enough for violent crime, so I typically support it when it happens in violent crime cases, and the minors aren't ridiculously young - as really, you should still understand the consequences of and the reasons not to harm others.

Oh, and I second the idiot - for the burner and probationary reasons alone.

generally, i think its a bad practice to charge a minor as an adult. for certain crimes, it should be mandatory however. and really, a kid can only fuck up so many times before i stop caring

The firearms were in my room because my parents actually told me it would be fine and that they had to go back into my safe asap. My PO knew about them being there but untill the possesion she said nothing. I seriously was clueless about the guns being a problem simply because my parents said it was alright. I actually never knew about the X pills being where they were at so it was all news to me...

For an adult with prior convictions, I know possesion of XTC is punishable of up to 6months to 2 years, yuck.

As all of my friends had said, it's bullshit I'm being charged for shit I've never even taken or known about.

Also, another add, I will be pleading not guilty for the felony possesion simply because I knew nothing about it. I have about 2000$ to spend on a lawyer, hopefully it will help..

I dunno how things work over where you are, but some certain miles away in Pittsburgh, a few friends have had public defenders work wonders for them.
$2000 doesn't sound like much at all for a lawyer to me, but you gotta make sure you have someone.

First off, you weren't clueless, you signed and agreed to your probation terms, which includes not owning or handling fire arms. It doesn't matter what your parents said was "ok". And second, you are very, very wrong about the x possession, do some research, with priors you can do much, much more time than that. You are going to lose your "i didn't know" argument right now, I'm telling you that. Even if they do charge you as an adult, which I doubt they will, I wouldn't see them sending you to prison as a minor, possible hold you in county though. Good luck man

As I said, the X was something I had no clue about being there.

Yeah, I may just work with my previous public defender, I'm sure he could do wonders for me.

It depends on what you are probation for IMO.... if you know you're on probation you probablly should know better then to put yourself in that postion anyway.... When I was younger I had friends that were on probation at 13, 14.... and they knew not to get in trouble.... Even when my kids are in time out, he knows what is coming if he gets out without permission... he doesn't get slack because they are kids, they know what is expected.

Sometimes it does seem unjust, my cousin was tried as an adult for an accidental murder when he was 15 and will not be out of prison until is about 45.... he is now 23... last time I had talked to him he was 19. He relizes how stupid he was now, but it's too late....

PS asking for people not to flame, will only envoke it.

lol I have about 2 or so family members in county for up to a year for marijuana shit, still it'd suck.

Well I know in Ohio, if the amount is small that IS the time you face, without prior convictions for such an amount as they found it would be a minimum of 6 months with a max of 1 year. I don't see 2 x pills being a big deal, and trust me, I seriously didn't know that X was there...

Generally speaking, kids 11 to 18 know the nature of what they were doing.
There's a slight defence in that they're susceptible to peer pressure and don't have much to lose by commiting crime. But I'm more for treating older teenagers like adults with crimes.

As for your crimes, well fuck me, they sound pretty innocuous.Altho you'd get the book thrown at you for the firearms in England.

This reminds of the case of a girl in England who was 15 or 16 but working as a hooker.
She made 150k in 6 months then I think her schoolteacher shopped her.( How he found out, fuck know.....?)Anyway the cops seized the money they found( 70k) under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
I dunno if she got it back.I'd assume it was illegally taken.
I mean the "victim" has her money stolen.I think if she didnt get it back, that mustve been infinitely worse than voluntarily choosing to do her job...

Well, seeing as this isn't the first...or second time even that you've come on here, freaking out about such things, yeah, I bet they're going to try you as an adult. Sucks, but that's the choice you made.

Yeah, I think the felony possesion is the only charge I'm recieving... Still it's enough to fuck everything up.
