And I guess I'm doing ok for the planning, our goal is to keep the wedding under $5000 which seems hard these days. My friends wedding was over $55,000! So far, I've got my dress for $200 (was $1400, hurray for sales) Wedding favors for $80 (for 80 people) Booked the minister for $250 Got the wedding invites, $37 (40% off) it's going to be fun!
She's a woman, she gets to. Hell, I have mine partially planned out and I'm not even dating anyone. This is quite typical, Bird. Have fun, Sara. And good job being thrifty.
Weddings in general are pretty retarded. Paying this much money for it, even more so. Meanwhile, you could buy a homeless family in the Philippines a house for $5000.
A girl I know has been planning for YEARS. At one point of time she even dragged me to the bridal store to help her decide on a dress, she was so pissed when she heard I was engaged at the time.... I think it would be pretty cool to have a wedding, but I think people take the shit too far sometimes. IF I get married one day, I want sometime simple, on a beach....
Good luck! I hope it all goes well. I got married on a beach. The whole thing, including hotel stay was $650.00, it was off season. We wore leather outfits that we both already had. The bar we held it at opened onto the beach bay, had tropical foliage everywhere... There was another wedding booked for that day. So, I have pictures of us standing by someone elses decorations and cake. We also booked our minister guy (new life church, he was actually a biker w/full sleeve tattoos) for 250 bucks. We had a blast, and spent a few days enjoying the beach and nightclubs. Now, hopefully the divorce will cost half that or less.
Wow, you're so organized in your planning! We've decided to just do it spontaneously since neither of us are keen on the whole organizational part of the wedding, and it's just too much hassle with our families and friends split in two countries.. Anyhow. What is your wedding dress like? Where are you having the ceremony?
i'm now less than 65 years from my funeral. so far i have the casket and the cemetery plots reserved, and i've already bought my tux, but i really have to hurry up and send out the invitations! :willy_nilly: the moon will be a popular vacation destination by the time this wedding actually takes place.
my wedding was around 2k. it was fairly simple, at a park that has flower gardens, duck ponds, just beautiful scenery everywhere, there is an old stage with collumns that we all got up on, it was gorgeous. my bridesmaids had beautiful fairy dresses and covered their bodies with sparkles. then after wards, we all played around in the cave (i kept my dress clean!)
My mom just got remarried @ 50 and they didn't want to over-spend..some good ideas she had were If you are serving wine, then have it made for you. There's great little winerys that sell 40-50 -60 bottles of homemade wine (in a package) and if you find the right place, it's not so bad (taste testing is the best part if you ask me lol). She had Blueberry and Strawberry. We made the flower center peices from supplies from craft stores and dollar stores. They prettied up the tables and saved a fortune on real flowers. Plus the guests loved them, and took most of them home after the wedding was over. All the food was homemade, takes alot of preperation but in the end it saved on catering, and who doesn't love home cookin. Stag and Doe's are always a great way to generate more $ for a wedding, providing you have enough ppl attend. Games like crown and anchor, guess whats in the jelly bean jar, different cards games and 50/50 draws Wedding are so exciting, I wish you all the best and Good Luck!
EEEEEWWWWWWW!!!!! really, doesn't that entirely defeat the purpose? it's not a bachelor party, just a pre-wedding reception...
Normally you would hold a Stag n Doe a month or so b4 the wedding. So it would leave the night b4 the wedding open for the bachelor to have an actual bachelor party, if that's what he wanted. and LOL @ ewww
First off, CONGRATZ! It is quite possible to plan a wedding with a budget of 5000$, I think what makes a wedding great is not all the expensive setups and food but what is HAPPENING! It doesn't have to be flashy to be an unforgettable day. Just go with whatever feels RIGHT, sadly though I have no suggestions on as to what to do. :\ Again though, congratz.
