Your already a hippie if you want to be. You don't have to fit into the stereotypical mould, in my opinion, people who conisder themselves hippies are already one. Be who you want to be. Thats also gose for all other counter cultures aswell.
buy birkenstock sandals, and goto phish concert wearing tye-dye shirts. never brush your teeth or shower. and make sure you have kinks in your hair, that shit helps.
Professor James of Harvard said " the only true definition of success is to live your life in your own way". That is a hippie quote if I ever heard one. Live your life in your own way and don't judge people who don't live your way. Find your path by finding out who you really are, forgot about living your life in ways that society expects of you and find out what you expect of yourself. I guess you must be true to yourself first everything else comes second. Try not to think that being a hippie is what you wear or your hair or what drugs you take, that stuff is just window dressing. Have fun finding yourself Peace Dan
Grow hair long. Listen to Inacadadavita Baby. Eat homemade brownies. Wear Love beads. Watch Alice's Restaurant. Get Humming Bird Guitar & lug around. Go to Frisco look for Sunshine. Crash & burn.
Bwahahaha. Dumb. Since when are their guidelines to being a 'hippie'? I think the term is bullshit, applying it only contradicts it's meaning. This whole patchouli wearing, soy eating, tie-dyeing, peace loving tree hugger crap is just crap. To be a 'hippie', exile the word 'hippie' from your vocabulary. Focusing on being a generic image will get you no where. And fast. Asking this question, following the 'rules' everything, is dumb. I don't understand it at all. Why would someone want to... eh. There are no rules. no guidelines, no hippies. Just do what you want, for whatever reasons you want. Aduh.
That is exactly what I was talking about.... Possibly the most hypocritical and contradictory statement of the year. It is saying "To be a hippie, follow these rules-Don't follow and rules." It is all for the image.
It's not always about 'rules' per se. If someone asks about being a hippie it is not because they want to learn to follow a bunch of rules, it is because they find hippies interesting and would like to learn more about them. This is about learning and teaching a way of life and philosophy. Passing on these viewpoints, values about things, our successes and failures - should be viewed as much more than just a list of rules.
Im not an old hippie, but I can give you advice: dont try to be someone that ur not!! Just be urself bro! Y r u gonna go and pretend to be someone that ur not?? Makes no sense
you dont become a hippy, you just be yourself and eventually someone will drive by and yell "damn hippy"! or something like that, then you can wear the lable like a colorful hat of oppression.
