Obama made it so that same-sex partners can now get benifits if they work for the government. (I wonder if that includes military)

*This is what I'm getting from the small bit that I can read at the bottom. I watch CNN at work and it's on really low volume, so I can only catch that bit. If I missed something or got wrong info, I'm sorry. I just read these things and thought it was some cool stuff and that I should pass it on. All of my friends are still sleeping at this hour, so you guys get to hear about it.

 

no way. you're still not allowed to be openly non-heterosexual and serve in the military, as far as i'm aware.

UK military doesn't specifically ask if you're gay or straight either but you're allowed to be open with it when you are in. i know a few gay chaps in the services, and they get on fine.

 

fuck, thats nothing. homosexual men are also not allowed to donate blood despite it all being tested anyway

This was on CNN HLN this morning. As I was leaving work the story came on again and I was actually able to listen to what the reporter was saying. Aparently it's not as good as I was thinking. It's not the same benifits that a married couple would get and they were saying that most of the "new" benifits they had already. Not as good as I thought, but maybe a step in the right direction. I didn't really think that it would include military personel, it was more of a hopefully sarcastic comment. I wish our government would just realize what discrimination it is to not allow gays in the military. Such shit.
