Other than the people, there's nothing. Even the rain's not so bad most of the time! I have awesome pics but I can't upload them. I shall have to necro this thread...
Who gives a fuck about rain. As long as there's no snow and the temperature doesn't go below 0, I'm a happy guy.
Parts of it I love, parts of it I hate.... America's a big country, it'd be foolish to love all of it just because you're from a part of it.
As an American I love my country. I think that its ideals are great, however we have lost sight and need to get back on track. We, like other countrys, have made some fuckups, but maybe we can work together to push for a free and more progressive future. I think that we will see a new hippy revolution appear in the next few years from the progressive movement and maybe they will make some real change (the kind I want to see).
I feel like it's overly simplistic to say I love something as complex as a huge, modern country. It's more of a love-hate relationship. It's complicated, just like the US is. The kind of patriotism they used to teach in public schools is too much like blind obedience. Can't do that.
i really don't know anymore. i used to think patriotism/nationalism was pretty stupid in general. don't really have an opinion on it anymore though.
its kinda dumb to love a country just because you were born there. had it not been your day you could've been born in haiti or iraq.
I don't really like the "idea" of a country. I don't really like my government, but I like my "tribe", the kind of people that I was brought up alongside. I like the humble arrogance of Australians and their friendliness and kindness. While I get bored here I always feel welcome and comfortable, that is what I love. The flag can go fuck itself.
I could and I did live on my own for a while. But I'm really close to my family. I'm more comfortable living in a large community of people. Since most of that is gone for me, it's important to stay near my family. It's just my personality. Plus, with this economy it's much nicer to have more people contributing to the bills. I'm not one of those people who can't grow up and wants to live off their parents, I pay most of the bills and take care of a lot of the house hold stuff. It's a preference for me.
I like the people around me, but I can't really say that I like the country itself. Countries to me is just a piece of land. The people in that land can make the area around you more livable but I would never assign allegiance to a country.
