back pain and working

is having back pain a legitimate excuse to not want to go to work where you will be standing for 5 hours?

Yea, on a serious note... back problems at 21 probably isn't good. You do a lot of heavy lifting at work or something?

 

not a lot of heavy lifting, improper shoes, bad posture and standing on my feet for a long time is what the cause is
i have a curve in my spin that puts pressure on my lower back when i stand for a long time
hasn't been bothering me for a while cept yesterday it started hurting
to the point where i couldn't do a proper work out at the gym today, my trainer gave me some stretches to do but they haven't really helped
i have an appointment with a chiropractor on friday

i'm really not liking the fact that i'm being guilted into going to work

most places i've worked, you had to stay for yoru b-day unless of course you got the day off in advance...can't just up and decide you dn't want to work because its yoru b-day.

the only reason i'm going in is cause i feel guilty about last saturday

she called me half hour into her shift to ask me to work cause her son was sick
i had plans and was already drinking so i didn't go in
now i feel guilty cause even though i had no obligation to cover her shift on saturday i'm just a nice person

 

Everyone has a birthday nothing special about that, stay home and smoke a little. You should also make it known you're not going in especially because she bugged you on saturday, no matter how untrue that maybe.

last i checked, birthdays fell on the same day every year, so you could request it off before that evening. bitch should have to work open-close today and open again tomorrow for not thinking ahead.
