Drug Addicts

when a person is addicted to drugs and constantly lies about it and sneaks around about it, it really makes you lose trust in them, and that is hard to deal with for the non addict, and it does make you kind of just want to walk away. but its hard because you know there is some reason this person feels that they need to block out real life, so you want to be there for them. i guess some people do drugs for fun, but then others, you just know that they are trying to escape from reality, and i just feel like that is kinda weak. another thing i can't stand about drug addicts is that they tell you that they will or can stop, but they really can't or just plain don't. i've been dealing with this a lot lately with a friend of mine. i'm actually becoming pretty depressed about it, which makes me pretty mad at this person actually.

 

...or they're self-medicating for a chemical imbalance or untreated trauma. Or, maybe they thought it was okay when they were younger and became addicted, forever changing their dopanine receptor activity.
I don;t think everyone who uses drugs is weak. I think it's exptremly unfair to place the gnerality on people you've never met.

 

For prissbaby, if they are heavily physcially dependent, a methadone clinic might be a good idea. you're near boston right? Let me know if you want some contact information. I used to be a drug counselor at a methadone clinic, and still have my national list. Most of them do suboxone too, which I always liked to give instead of methadone (because then they can;t use).
If you;ve given them resources for help, and they still choose to use, you need to do what is best for you. By buying them things, you are enabelign them to spend more money on drugs.
It's not easy to be close with a drug addict, good luck.
Oh, and one more thing. Mass has this huge problem with young people taking bonzos (xanax. valium etc) with opiates. This can kill you (this is how heath ledger died), but so many people don;t know this. Please tell your friends.
