    Hey there everyone!

I have wanted dreads for the LONGEST time. My hair is very long. Anyone have a favorite dreadlock way they would like to share? I'm really thinking about getting them.

    Thanks:)

wrap your hair in a turban made of newspaper and then jump in a pool of chocolate syrup while licking your elbow... instant dreads. :D

It depends on what look you want.

Everyone here will say "Oh natural, go natural, it's awesome because it makes your chi flow" or something along those lines...

Natural can look nice, and don't get me wrong, I respect people who go natural, but a lot of the time it's...Not pleasing to the eye, I'm sorry if that offended anyone.

    I would say backcomb.

I sooo wish id gone natural, but everyone says they look it anyway so i guess im a happy bunny. I'd say poll your dedication node, your going to look like a tramp for a minimum of 6 months, 12+ if you go natural.

NB i dont know what im talking about.

YOu look like a jackass either way for a while. Freshly backcombed, and even up to a year after depending on your hair locks look stupid as hell.

i would say go with back-combing,that's how mine were done and it worked well for me i've had my dreads for 2 years already. i have some pics if u want to see an example, just click my username and view profile.

here's what I did and I'm really happy with the results. I neglected my hair for a month and let the natural knots and sectioning happen, then I very loosely backcombed some of the sections that had formed. After that, I just let them do their thing. They look natural and fun but formed somewhat quicker since I aided them with the backcombing.

twist and rip seems to work really well though if you want results quicker.

I backcombed mine an regret it. I wish I would have gone natural for sure. If I ever did it over again I would just quit brushing my hair. Backcombed hair looks ridiculous for the longest time IMO. Either way will take lots of patience.

I backcombed at the start and then let them go naturally, I'm really happy with them. If you want the more groomed look then backcomb them and do regular maintenance ie. crochet, felting, palm rolling. It's all up to you.

Twist in rip don't look half as goofy as backcombed dreads. I think, at least by the pics on here, t&r hair tend to resemble dreads faster than backcombed hair does.

i did mine sort of differently and i would say i am happy with the results, i back combed first, then crocheted the loose stuff, then took the herb called horsetail which supposedly induces hair growth, or the silica in it does. i then let them be, the crocheting helped keep everything close so when it grew it didnt take as long to mature because the hair was already packed together

Natural if you don't mind having a bird nest on your head (for up too 6 months)
or twist and rip for the insta dread look.
These will turn out insane dreads!

Back combing is good if you wanna look like a dickhead for a few weeks.
or if you're a total dumbarse put wax in there
