Anyone worked in telemarketing? I got this job interview last week for a new company that hired phone salesmen and I start my tryout-period today. If I'm awesome for five days and they also think I'm awesome, I get hired by the end of the week.
well, you are generally pretty awesome. I applied for a telemarketing job once, the lady said i was to shy to handle the job?
i worked for a telemarketing company for a week i had to get people to donate money for fire chiefs, cancer and the police it was gayness but i liked the people i worked with, they made the job fun
Telemarketing is quite possibly one of the weakest professions ever invented. It destroys your soul in all kinds of ways, it drains you mentally, and there's is a lot of pressure to always perform, perform, perform. I worked as a telemarketer once, I quit after two weeks. It's fucking shit work. Find a different job.
That's the kind of attitude that'll only land you crappy work. Then again, you're only a young'un, a bit of daily abuse, diminished self-worth and abandonment of morals will build badly needed character. Make sure you report back once your trial is over.
Have you noticed what's going on in the economy? This is the wrong time to be picky, I've been dicking around for 4 months. I'll let y'all know how it goes, sure. If the interviewer wasn't bullshitting me, there's some pretty decent money to be made there.
telemarketing is shit work but money is money it takes a certain kind of person to work in telemarketing usually people without a soul to begin with it's why i did so good at it problem is with the way the economy is no one is buying from telemarketers, even people that are good at it prepare yourself for that mojo
I'm sure 98% of the people just hang up but at least they have basic wage as well as an incentive wage so if no one wants to buy the crap, I at least have some cash for neat threads. :cheers2:
Economoy schmeconomy. I've got two jobs, both of which I started in the last two months, and I had another two before that, both of which I quit after a few days because I thought they sucked. But again - you're young, it's not fair of me to compare, as I have all sorts of experience and always land the jobs I want. Oh, and the interviewer is a salesman, too. See, when it comes to sales work, they'll generally hire pretty much anyone (especially TM); the interview is more them selling you the job, but putting a spin on it so you think you're getting the chance of a lifetime One of their selling techniques during the interview is the potential for loads of money. And the potential is there - just like the potential is there for you to become a world class athlete, musician, or what have you. But don't let me deter you. For the right person, telemarketing works, at least for a while.
i got a telemarketing job when i was 18, found out im really good at it, ive worked at about 11 call centers. (also did customer service and collections) but its fun as hell (at most places) and great money.
That's a shit job. Hell, I think I'd rather work fastfood than be a telemarketer. It's the kind of job people get when they're so desperate for work that they'll either starve or do that shit. Also, and I'm being serious here, make sure that it's not a scam. Some companies pay you "commission" for selling stuff, but don't pay you on an hourly basis. Don't EVER work for those.
