I hate the gangster culture

Are you an American? I ask because the fact is, many Americans don't 'get it' like you do. I find it pitiful that they can't seem to see the problems are all related. It's sort of a 'can't see the forest for the trees' mentality that is a result of lack of knowledge of history, incapacity for logic and reason due to the absence of critical thought and an overall superficial cultural analysis. You made some excellent points in your post. Kudos to you.

 

Gangster culture is probably the biggest bullshit in the world

 

In a nightclub in Norfolk, Virginia, about 20 minutes from my home, a group of gangstas barged in wielding assault rifles. They shot people off one by one before lighting the place on fire. The local news interviewed the suspects in jail, and I vividly remember what one of them said. "We're [black] gangstas. This is what we do." The reason they did this, one of the gang members thought the bartender was eying the girl he was with.

You shoot up a bar, killing numerous people, because you THOUGHT someone might have taken a look at your girlfriend? To find something so insignificant so threatening, and to take such actions upon it - it's downright horrific and insane.

I've had friends mugged and beaten for a few dollars in their pocket. My friend's brother was murdered due to gangstas. I've seen many people, including me and some family members disrespected by them. I've even had a few incidents where they stand in the middle of the street, taking their time as I'm driving, and here, the car has the right-away on the road. It's gotten to the point where I don't even slow down for them anymore because they are too ignorant.

It is an epidemic, there is no denying it. There is no comparison to the hippie culture when it comes to these seeming barbarians. Hippies didn't ransack convenience stores for a few quarters, didn't force 'hos' to work the corner, didn't curse old women or kill people because they had a sudden thought. This destructive culture is a disgrace to not only our country, but to humanity. To quote the black mayor of Norfolk - "The problem is black gangstas"

There are many problems when it comes to it - ignorance, stupidity, lack of reasoning, finding violence as an answer, immorality.

Really, the government isn't doing anything about it, and the people who say it doesn't affect them - you're completely wrong. I can't count the time I've seen "G's" go into the grocery stores buying top brand stuff, including expensive seafood with food stamps. Welfare - that goes to rims, Cadillacs and sounds systems, and I'm not joking at all. I've seen rundown homes in the ghettos with detailed $40k cars in front. You pay taxes don't you? It affects you everyday.

Prana, I completely agree with your earlier post. Those are staggering statistics regarding the structure of our society and our government's lack of resolute action. I can agree that "gangsta" is a counter-culture, one that has likely formed out of tyranny and oppression. What I cannot agree with however is the reasoning behind the gangsta lifestyle. The hippie counter-culture is a prime example of people living a free lifestyle, despite living under a corrupt, poorly structured government and society. This example clearly shows that people CAN live in a sub or counter-culture environment while still maintaining positive concepts such as peace, love, and compassion in their everyday lives. There is absolutely NO excuse or reason to promote and glorify behavior that is negative, aggressive, harmful, or disrespectful to others. We are all human beings and I live my life treating others as I want to be treated and truly feel sorry for these people, it's called respect and empathy. If "ganstas" are opressed or victims of tyranny and would like to stand up against that, I completely understand and accept that. Causing harm and disrespect to others for the same or any other reason? That I will never understand or accept, and that is all this sub-culture has shown to society.

Once again, as I previously stated, this is NOT a race case. Members of this aggressive culture include people of many different races, backgrounds, ethnicities, and social classes. Though it is painfully obvious that the sub-culture primarily consists of African-Americans, at least in this country.

 

Gangster culture is wack. If you're not a thug, don't try to be one...
I consider myself to represent hip hop culture and i never ever acted like a gangster, although i write graffiti.
Those people who try to be gangsters are just brainwashed.

 

I say let them kill eachother off....they are total scum and wastes of life anyway.

There should not be prosecutions of murders of thug scum.

i LOVE the gangster culture. it has many benefits: creates more jobs, decreases classroom size, makes purchasing weed as easy as going to your local corner sto' !!

its just going to get worse you might as well earn your street smarts and fucking run with it, the hippie drug culture days are done. The new gen is making moves with it, it just so happens to include mainstream rap music.

I aint a fan of it...but you dont HAVE to be in that culture, its so easy to get whatever you want without going through kids.

I've met some gangsters with a head on their shoulders, but most of them are uneducated, mindless programmed drones who were born into it and will know nothing but it for their entire lives. Most of them are garbage, not all though.

 

hippie folk can be just as shady as gangsta folk.

it's a culture of violence man. seriously fucked up

a lot of the bars in my town have certain regulations on clothing 'n stuff to cut down on gang activity. kinda ruins some of the better spots in town.

 

you guys dont understand the hardships theese people go through
they're born poor living in government housing surrounded by violence and drugs
dont judge a book by its cover and dont judge someones life unless youve been through it too, theese people have to sell drugs to eat and pay the rent they cant get 9 to 5 jobs either because there often disaproved straight in the face, or because there criminal record is to big. When your making money on the streets people get jelous of you, and thats why people are getting shot, but then again there are many ignorent people living the life, but you cant talk shit about them because thats how they were raised, many of theese people are trying to make a change but have extreme difficulties doing so.

I have a theory the legalization of all drugs would help greatly to kill it - as that is one of the things they boast much, that makes them somewhat sympathetic (or makes the law look like douches)
But yeah, that's of course, not the reason I support legalization.
