Oracular Spectacular is a great album, I have been listening to them a bunch lately and really enjoying it.

 

they came out with something new??

 

I'm not sure if its new or not, just got it on a torrent about a week ago.

 

oracular spectacular isnt new, but i was wondering if the OP was posting this in new releases because they put something else out. i didnt think they had, though.

They are alright...

They actually came into a local music store in Western New York a few weeks back, according to the owner who I was talking to when I was purchasing some new guitar strings- pretty cool.

Oracular Spectacular is the only album I've heard by them though...

Not really, at least none of this new fag-ass hipster shit.

I think that Modest Mouse is as indie as I get, and I've been into them ever since their first album.

 

They are fantastic. I've seen them before at ACL and will be seeing them again at Bonnaroo.

Indie.. psh. I think that term is a bit worn out... Most of their songs contain elements of electronica, and others are a bit of folk-pop (for example, Pieces of What).

Oracular Spectacular is a solid album, for what its worth. Definitely more solid than anything that the hipster causing band called Modest Mouse put out.

ive seen them live too, outdoors in Brooklyn (their home) last summer, it was fantastastical.
indie to me is a broad term - i know they incorporate electronica and folk, but so does a lot of other indie, they dont fall into either of those categories, so BSR is right, theyre hipster enough to still be categorized indie, in my opinion.
i am hoping they come out with something else.

No doubt, their indie. but I feel like thats such a trash can term for rock-pop music that doesn't fit anywhere else. If you hear a band throwing around heavy technical lead guitar and double bass, you know its metal, but indie music isn't as distinguishable.

 

I like MGMT. Their music is pretty awesome, different than everything else I'm hearing out there. Not the most amazing band, but pretty good considering it's only two young stoners!

AFter hearing Oracular so many times it has gotten a bit old for me though..
