Anybody else digging the new Conor Oberst & MVB stuff? I can't get enough of the two albums, nor can I decide which one I like better, the self-titled 2008 album, or 2009's Outer South. Both amazing albums, with some very awesome lyrical work... the additional guitars provided by Hollingsworth and Freitas are very cool too- awesome to hear Oberst making music with guitarists that can really shred... Also, the addition of songs written by Freitas, Boesel, and Hollingsworth are pretty cool. I'm really digging Freitas' "Big Black Nothing" and Hollingsworth's "Snake Hill"... To be honest, I hope there is another record with the Mystic Valley Band... I've been a fan of Bright Eyes for almost a decade now, but its really cool to hear Oberst expanding his musical horizons with this group... Just wondering if anybody else here is into these albums?
Conor Oberst has a whole lot more music than just the stuff he did with Bright Eyes. Check out Commander Venus or Desaparecidos they are two other bands he was in. I haven't gotten to hear his stuff with the Mystic Valley Band yet, maybe I will see if I can find it now.
I saw 'em live a few months ago in Dallas; best concert i've been to so far. I really liked the first album, but i was a bit dissapointed when I heard Outer South.. I haven't given it much effort though, it may have to grow on me. I do like Big Black Nothing, alot.
